We had a wonderful dining experience at Southern Plenty. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a classic lunch counter, where you place your order at the register. As you order, you're tempted by an array of desserts displayed in a glass case. It's also a great spot for ice cream or milkshakes. I tried one of their specials, the gluten-free veggie quiche, which was crustless and absolutely delicious! It came with a side and a cornbread muffin for $9. I opted for the pickled beets and goat cheese as my side. My only minor critique is that the salad had a bit too much dressing. Overall, I had a great experience at the restaurant. The food was tasty, and the latte surpassed that of the popular national chain. The service was a bit slow, but we weren’t in a rush. Once we were attended to, the staff was very friendly. The prices were reasonable and reflected the quality of the food. However, the layout was somewhat confusing, as it combines elements of a bistro, coffee shop, bakery, and retail space all in one. All in all, it was a delightful visit and offered good value for the money.
I stayed at Staunton River State Park and went into South Boston for breakfast at Southern Plenty. The food was decent, but the coffee was outstanding. I ordered pancakes with eggs and bacon, along with an iced mocha. The pancakes were alright, but nothing special. My wife tried the ham, brie, and onion jam sandwich, which was really tasty. She even offered me a bite—and I ended up taking two! Overall, it was a lovely experience, and I would highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.
The atmosphere is very laid back and casual. I ordered a piece of cake and a cup of coffee, they were out of coffee but made some fresh for me. I had breakfast there for the first time yesterday. I have to say the service was friendly, but unfortunately, the eggs, toast, and bacon were cold. On the bright side, the hash browns were hot and tasty. I’ll give lunch a try someday.
Love this small cafe! Finally made it for breakfast brunch and it was delicious It was hard for me to decide what I wanted! We ordered “dessert” to go for later which was also amazing. Will definitely keep going.
This is a very nice and quaint place to eat with coffee. I love having the lavender latte. The service is great, and the desserts are delicious. They also have awesome specials. I love the shrimp and grits.
