Spotted Salamander is one of the finest, most charming restaurants in Columbia. It manages to feel both comfortable and up scale. The place a lovely 'bistro ' vibe of a Southern Kitchen and comfortably elevates it. I 've had both meals and attended special events (including a fantastic wildlife fundraiser) and I 've always walked away with a few important notes as an upscale place, I 've never left hungry, I 've never had a bad meal, the staff (and owner) are lovely people, and I find myself curious to try even dishes that I 'd normally lean away from! Upon entering this cute cafe, I new it was a winner! Immediately greeted with smiles and warm feels. The quaint small dining area was filled with small details that should not be overlooked, and gives the Spotted Salamander uniqueness. Note the different salt shakers, the way your check is delivered, etc… The staff is extremely friendly and inviting. Our waitress was patient when we took our time ordering. She never let our glasses of water and tea get half empty. I was so impressed by this! Ok, now the food was absolutely delicious. I got their chicken salad with a side of broccoli salad. Everything that we have tried is greatness. The different flavors and textures are like invitations to try something new each time which is good since their menu changes daily! Open for work week lunch, Tues is fried chicken sandwich day, while Fri is burger day. Their BLT pasta is yummy and the deviled eggs are “the best I’ve ever had”. Cute decor, free street parking, and don’t forget about dessert.
A little gem hidden away off Bull st. Thoroughly enjoyed the charming place with a homely, comforting vibe. Had one of the day's special, the brisket s/w, and it was excellent! The quantity is just right for lunch, not big to make you fall asleep right after, and not so small as to leave you hungry. Will definitely visit again!
