We had been strongly recommended to pay a visit to Sqare Victoria in Menton by a friend of the owner. We had checked out the menu and decided to go for dinner. On arrival we were placed in a corner of a stuffy porch which was close to a main road and very noisy. The overall appearance of the restaurant had deteriorated over the last couple of years and could benefit from another refit. Although we got menus immediately, we had to attract attention before we could order water and an aperitif. We stumbled across this restaurant on our first night in Menton, and ate here with our children who were both tired after a long journey. The place was packed on a busy Friday night, however the service was prompt (especially for the children), and the freshly made pastas were outstanding. We have visited the region a few times and eaten in many of the local towns (both in France and across the border). The pasta dishes here were as good as in Genoa, far better than the other Italian restaurants we have tried in Menton (which have a higher ranking on trip advisor). The owners are welcoming and give a comforting impression of caring for their customers, a lot of which are returning ones so this makes you feel part of the family. We had a pizza and pastas, which we rather enjoyed. The 1st price Chablis was disappointing. The service was average in term of speed and friendliness. The restaurant is very cosy, I would just not recommend the outside terrace as the nearby road makes it very noisy. I will definitely try again in the dining room.
I visited this place with my daughter,as we walked in to book a table we were met by the lady patron with a massive smile. Wonderful. Then her husband the chef greeted us and told us what was special that day. We're we happy? Hysterically happy. I haven't had such great pasta since, blimey I can't remember. My daughter had the st Pierre fish(incredible). Keep it up guys. Perfect. And I should know as I eat out most days ☀️☀️

We enjoyed the dishes we had - paella and a pasta dish with red mullet - but we were seated near to the road tunnel which was noisy and distracting. The panna cotta for desert was one of the best I have ever had - as light as a feather. Service was good as was overall value. Pizzas were popular and several people came in for takeaways.
Arrived without a reservation, and they were very gracious and found us a table. They were very busy. Our meal was excellent, house wine very good. Prices very reasonable compared to many other restaurants in Menton. Very charming atmosphere, service excellent.
Best place we have found for a tasty, no-nonsense Italian meal. Great value and a superb find. We have 3more weeks in Menton and expect to return several times. Pannacotta out of this world!
I loved this place. It is a genuine family-run concern, with excellent food and attentive service and full of locals. I ate there twice in 3 days I liked it so much.
