St. Stephen's Green is a local landmark that offers a wonderful Irish atmosphere, along with excellent food and drinks. I was there celebrating a key staff member over lunch. While the food at the tables was fantastic, my Banger lunch special tasted more like breakfast sausages. Although the place appears clean, it could really use a thorough dusting—especially with the bagpipes on the wall as a telling sign. Dust isn't great for hygiene. That said, it might have just been a one-time issue, and I'm sure we'll return in the future.
Our drinks took quite a while to arrive, and when they finally did, one was missing. The person whose drink was forgotten didn't receive it until after the others had finished their first round. To make matters worse, the drink order for the second round was incorrect. However, the appetizers and entrees were delicious and served promptly. The live music added to the atmosphere, making the overall experience quite enjoyable.
We made reservations and instead of sitting in the main dining area, where tables were available, we sat in the back in a corner and could not see much. It took approximately 15 to 20 minutes for a server to come over to us. The table next to us sat, server came immediately and food bought out before we even received our drinks from the bar. Food was delicious, as always!!
The food and beer selection were great. Our server was pretty unattentive but she did seem to be running around quite a bit. Our meal was too rushed, though. We were literally eating the last bite of our appetizer when our entrées hit the table. I really don't like it when a restaurant rushes us through our dinner! I absolutely loved this place! It's a genuine Irish pub with plenty of wood decor and a cozy, slightly dim atmosphere. There was a band playing some fantastic Irish music, and the food was great too! I will definitely be returning soon.
The food was excellent, and the service was very good, though we would have liked some bread. The waitress was fantastic—she was pleasant and very accommodating. My only complaint is that the noise level was far too loud.
