I have heard so many people talk about St. Anne's. I figured it must be amazing! Well I have never been so disappointed. Take it from someone who's highlight on the weekend is to go to some new little bakery, I knew I had to go to this one. We spent $32.00 on one very small loaf of banana bread, one slice carrot cake, one apricot chocolate tart and 4 dark chocolate almond/cranberry clusters. The banana bread is so dry, no amount of butter can help it. The carrot cake was good but don't expect it to taste like the carrot cake you might be used to. The chocolate tart would be heavenly if they didn't use the tasteless crumbling crust. However, the chocolate almond/cranberry clusters were to die...
I have to admit, I was little disappointed by this bakery, but I think that's primarily because my expectations were so high after an amazing time at the spa. There was one young woman working and she wasn't all that friendly, unlike the majority of the staff at the spa. There also wasn't as much selection as I expected. It was nice to see some of the things we loved at the resort, like the chocolate apricot tart. We picked up some frozen blueberry scones and granola. All in all, it was a little underwhelming.
My friend and I stopped in on way from St Annes Spa,we both purchased an apple and parsnip soup,it stated $8.00 for tub to take home,she charged me $9.80,when I questioned her on it,she stated the wrong price was on the soup,she charged my friend the same ,no apology was given ,I rechecked the fridge and all the parsnip and apple soup had $8.00 on it,now just imagine if Walmart changed your prices at the till.We will never go back there again.I would never had noticed ,only I just purchased the soup.
We stopped in on our way home and picked up both fresh and frozen scones...they were amazing!! The baker came out and explained the ingredients...everything here is made with love. I picked up some honey and a loaf of bread as well. If you are staying 2 nights you may want to pop in the first night to ensure you get as many scones as you like...things go fast with everyone stopping in when they leave. I have not been to the bakery but my family loves their five grain bread which we used to buy at a health food store in town. Your Independant Grocer in Port Hope now stocks their bread and it is far more convenient here.
Everything about this bakery is A-1. The food is fresh and all home made. Bought some bread and sausages to take home. Do not go there without trying their scones with jam and creme fresh.
Very wonderful fresh prepared food choices. Desserts are scrumptious and the bonus is fresh made jams, jellies and honey. Do not miss this great bakery on your travels or spa stay.

We had soup and a salad while waiting to check in at Ste Anne's spa. Lovely service and the food was delicious. 100%Gluten free but you wouldn't know it. Great food
