Stopped by this restaurant with a friend of mine for breakfast on September 26, 2021, and this was not the first time stopping here as we have always had decent food and service. The service was slow and we were greeted by our waitress Stephanie, she either needs to be retrained on what to say or not to say to customers or be fired! Lets jump to the one line that told me to NEVER stop back to this place. After taking our order, Stephanie walks off and turns around and says to me, YOU ARE ALREADY MAD AT ME! The service was inconsistent, but the restaurant was busy, and I only noticed one or maybe two servers. Given the difficulty in finding staff these days, I can be understanding. However, I was really disappointed with the almost cold food. I couldn't bring it up to the server because they were too occupied. I ordered a baked potato as a side, and the butter didn't even melt—it just stayed solid. The meat was also barely at room temperature. I suspect that if the food had been served hot or warm, it would have tasted much better. The flavors were good; it was just served cold.
This place has spots of great, but can't consistently deliver. One day the pulled pork sandwich will be great, and another day it will be so tough that it's inedilbe. Likewise, you can't trust the ribs not to be dry and inedible. Best luck is with the sides, the baked beans are always excellent. Too bad the rest of the menu cant be the same. Service is OK bu lackluster, no enthusiasm whatsoever. Drive farther for better BBQ.
This restaurant is characterized by small portions and high prices for average barbecue, which seems to be the norm in Iowa. If you want to improve, consider hiring more skilled chefs instead of always opting for the cheapest labor. Driving by you would under estimate this gem of an industrial establishment. Atmosphere is inviting with incredible service. Firecracker Debbie was our Gracious Hostess and Waitress who made our experience a showcase. My over easy eggs were spot on. I would visit again in a heartbeat!
My pulled pork, coleslaw and the corn bread were so good. Their coleslaw has a nice creaminess to it. My husband said his hot chicken was bad though. Rule of thumb for this place may be to stick to traditional BBQ foods when you order.
Nice place. Good service. Very good food. I had the half-chicken dinner. The sides literally tasted homemade. My chicken was a little in the small side, but I'm nitpicking. I would happily go back and order it again.
