On my first visit I asked if the chips were gluten free. The young girl said they couldn’t ensure they were, but on asking the other member of staff she said she could wash the utensils and he said the vinegar was gluten free. I went for a few visits and sat in after that, and took some home. All was fine, but as I’m coeliac I still mentioned it every time. On my last visit it was odd as with different staff I was told none of the food could be gluten free, the chips had always been cooked with the sausages in batter and the vinegar wasn’t gluten free either! We had a lunch special for two this past Sunday and I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The service was outstanding - the staff was efficient, friendly, and polite. The portion sizes were more than generous and the fish was fresh, flaky, and the batter was light and crispy. The amount of chips was just right. We were pleasantly surprised to also be offered a full menu of homemade desserts. Despite being full, we couldn't pass up the sticky toffee pudding to take home. It was amazing - light and indulgent, with bits of dates throughout. This meal truly made our Sunday. I ordered a small portion of chips and gravy at this restaurant. When asked if I wanted salt and vinegar, I politely replied that I would let them know when the food was ready. The lady serving me asked me to repeat myself multiple times before becoming impatient. When I explained that I was on the phone and would let her know when I was ready, she snapped at me. When the food was finally ready, I requested some salt and vinegar, but the lady refused and told me to do it myself at the tables. The food itself was good, but the service was extremely poor, with rude and unhelpful staff. This experience was off-putting to say the least.
We ordered scone and chips with gravy and a scallop butty to takeaway it was Absolutely disgusting the scallops where all batter and burnt and full of grease so made the teacake greasy the scone was burnt and hard to cut through also had a very funny taste and the chips where pale soggy and greasy the only thing worth eating was the gravy shame it was spoilt by the food. all the scallop butty was thrown away once first bite was taken and half of the scone and chips won’t be going again especially at the prices they charge Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
I used to love this restaurant and always gave it five-star reviews. However, after a recent experience, I won't be returning. I ordered fish and chips and a scone through Just Eat, but the driver drove past my house and marked the order as delivered without actually dropping it off. When I called the restaurant to address the issue, they refused to help and told me to take it up with Just Eat. This lack of customer service has made me lose faith in the restaurant, and I won't be dining there again.
First visit for a few months for takeaway fish and chips. Chips were perfect and the fish was big with crisp batter and moist white flesh. Price was £7:90 a bit dearer than most in the area but still good value for the size of the fish and the quantity of chips.
