I did just that and was rewarded with a plate of pure bliss: pot roast with creamy mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. We encountered a brief wait since we arrived during the lunch rush, but it wasn’t too long—about 15 minutes before we were seated. My wife and daughters opted for hamburgers, while I chose the steak sandwich. Our food arrived quickly, and as soon as it did, I knew I was in for something special. This is a wonderful little restaurant that you absolutely must visit! I had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, and corn, which all came with a side of cornbread. It felt like I was transported back in time, enjoying my mother's cooking at the kitchen table. And a sweet tea to top it off—all for just $11! You really can't beat this place.
The restaurant is usually quite busy, but that's only because everyone knows how amazing it is. The food is outstanding, and the service is relatively fast. Stockard is pretty good, but it’s a bit on the expensive side. I nearly spent $20 on a hamburger, tater tots, and tea. I also had a small piece of strawberry cake for dessert, which was delightful. The staff there are wonderful!
The ribeye was fantastic, and the buttermilk pie was exceptional! I also enjoyed lunch here, where I ordered the grilled steak salad, topped with tater tots!
