We went with a group and were seated in a private room. Service: we felt forgotten. When one of us went to find a waiter, either they were texting and hardly responded or they were no where to be found. Ordering: waiter prided himself on not writing down our orders. One of our guests got no entree as the waiter never keyed it into the system. When told that it would take a while to cook it, and was strongly urged to order something else, our guest said he would wait as that was what he wished to eat. The waiter did not take it well. A very prettily given request about the temperature of the duck was disregarded. Our guest sent it back and the replacement was still not what she had asked for....
On our third night in Halifax we ate at Stories. It was excellent from beginning to end and by far our best meal of the trip. We ate at other restaurants while in the city that have been rated higher than Stories but I can't imagine why. I had the scallop appetizer and my husband had the bison carpaccio. Both were delicious. His steak and my duck were killer and the blackberry tart sealed the deal. The restaurant is elegant and quiet and the wait staff are truly attentive without being intrusive. Our server, Liam, was very personable and helpful. If you are looking for a gourmet meal with charming ambiance look no further.
Only heard about restaurant from a waiter where I had lunch and I am SO happy that I did. Loved it. Atmosphere elegant and romantic, small and intimate. Each plate perfectly balanced with all items showcasing the high quality fresh and local ingredients perfectly. Service was meticulous but not intrusive with special note to Philip with many thanks for a really nice evening. Kudos to everyone and esp. my compliments to the chef.
We had a lovely celebratory dinner here. The wait staff was most attentive and helped us with wine selection and food selection. Our appetizers were yummy--both the tiger shrimp cakes and the Hant County salad and our mains of the Strip steak with a lovely blue cheese cap, vegetables and potato was particularly good. Dining at Stories is a beautiful, intimate and gracious experience. The service is impeccable. And the food is wonderful - start with the scallops or crab cakes, move on to the salmon or beef and finish with the chocolate cake or one of the other fabulous desserts - pair it with one of the many great wines, and you will have just enjoyed a little slice of heaven. This has to be one of the best restaurants in Halifax!!
We stayed at the Haliburton and booked our evening meal at Stories and we were glad that we did. It was a quiet, intimate and relaxed experience. The food delicious, the wait staff accommodating and helpful. I have only praise for our experience at this fine dining establishment.
Rustic decor in an old house. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Attentive service. Very good food from starter to dessert. In short, a very pleasant meal.

Going for the third time so far this year.(Jan to March). Expensive but worth it. Staff is great. Nothing but great experiences.
