This was not only a great place to eat, it was a great place to have fun and experience the friendliness of the restaurant owner and some of her patrons! While yes, they are a brewery and a distillery, the food is awesome and authentically German. We had to try a little of everything. And, loving German food the way I do, I ordered several of the sides: the German potato salad, the spaetzle, the beer cheese soup, and the cucumber salad. They were all very good, but the cucumber salad was my favorite. My friend ordered the bratwurst on a toasted pretzel bun and I had the pork cutlet and bacon sandwich both delicious! I really wanted to like this restaurant. After a plant sale, we decided to eat here. They were busy, but we were seated promptly. We placed our orders quickly, but unfortunately, things went downhill from there. We ordered starters of cheese curds and poutine, but everything came out at once after a 30-minute wait. The cheese curds never arrived, so we asked our waitress to remove them from the bill. I ordered chicken wings and fries, but the wings were not cooked properly and lacked seasoning. My wife and I had a fantastic time celebrating our anniversary at Sugar Hill Distillery. We had a great time chatting with the owner and listening to their entertaining stories about their spirits. The cocktails were delicious (we loved the Oglethorpe, Boilermaker, and Smashed Axle) and the food was excellent! The heavenly cured salmon was phenomenal. The chefs were incredible, I can't praise them enough! They came out to discuss our dietary restrictions and really went above and beyond to accommodate them. 5 stars are not enough to express how much we enjoyed our experience.
We started out with the Smashed Axel to drink and the Giant Pretzel ? This was one of the best pretzels we’ve ever had and it came with honey mustard, beer cheese, and stone ground mustard. Followed by round two of drinks Zach got the Hefeweizen and I got the whiskey on the rocks. Next was dinner in which we got the Reuben and the Bratwurst. Both were delicious! Just visited here and was pleasantly surprised! The drinks and beer are good, nothing exceptional, but the food was surprisingly tasty! I think it’s homemade which is rare these days. Our waiter was Scott and he was really kind. I visited with my newly 21 year old sister and her friend and he made sure to explain the alcohol menu to them and check in on their drinks. It was a nice touch!
Great German food and even better service. The atmosphere is awesome. If you’re at the bar, Anne Marie will take care of you. She’s the best! If you fine at a table, Cheyann is an awesome server and will take care of you. I highly recommend this place. I’m not a beer connoisseur but I hear their beer is great as well.
love the vibe, live music, eating is amazing! super friendly owners too. in any case one of our new favourites and we will definitely be regular! can not wait to try some of the other elements on the menu. highly recommended!
