I drove by and decided to give this place a try, despite having only two reviews. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem! It's small, with about 6-7 tables, and we were seated immediately on a Friday afternoon. They offered some great lunch specials. I ordered the two-roll combo, my husband opted for the three-roll combo, and our toddler enjoyed the veggie udon. The broth for the udon was incredibly delicious, so my husband and I couldn't resist taking some from her bowl. The sushi rolls were excellent—unlike some other places, the sushi chef doesn’t overload them with rice. Their house-made soy sauce is light and smoky, adding to the overall experience. Excellent new sushi spot in downtown Closter. Hanamo is a step up from your average neighborhood sushi joint. In terms of quality, I would rate it in line with Jugemu in Cresskill or Bon in Westwood. Prices are on the steeper side, but you are paying for high quality sushi. I ordered a Chirashi and a spicy salmon roll. Both were fantastic and feature high quality ingredients and great presentation. The restaurant is not very big. It has 6-7 tables so it can accommodate 20ish customers at any one time. Parking is available either on the street or in a lot a few steps from the restaurant.
The sushi here is incredibly fresh and delicious. Since it was my first time ordering, I chose to keep it simple with a spicy tuna roll and a yellowtail roll, each containing six pieces. I enjoyed both rolls, and I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable the prices are compared to other sushi restaurants, especially given the exceptional quality! I will certainly return whenever I'm in the mood for sushi.
The best sushi in Bergen County! It's always a top-notch experience. The presentation is fantastic, but the most crucial aspect of sushi—the freshness—is unparalleled here. Everything is incredibly fresh. Sashimi is my favorite, and their salmon is so rich and buttery. The rolls are both large and inventive. Great people and delicious food make this place a winner!

This restaurant is takeout only, but the udon was excellent and the teriyaki was quite good too. The miso soup and sushi were impressive as well. What really set this place apart was the exceptionally friendly staff. They were very kind and thoughtful. I would definitely return if I'm in the area again.

I’m willing to drive for a good meal, so when my friend mentioned Suju, I knew I had to check it out. Last week, while I was in Jersey for a meeting, I made a stop there. It definitely deserves 5 STARS!!
This is undeniably the best sushi experience you could wish for. The service is quick and the sushi is exceptional—fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend it to everyone!

Very mediocre quality. Tuna had both an unnatural color and plastic taste. Salmon was overly fatty. Very disappointing given all these great reviews.
The owners are so friendly and the sushi is amazing quality for the price.
