I love Sunny Day Carribean for so many reasons. But one of them being this... That they value their customers. And this one time when I was ordering my favorite Jerk Chicken from them.. I opted for cutlery, without knowing they don't have plastics (which is a very good trait) they called me and let me know about it. When I mentioned in the call that the last time I received the jerk chicken was a bit more done than usual , they made sure they treat me right and send me an amazing platter to let me know how much they appreciate loyal customers. Do not be deceived by the simple decor or the location in Newfoundland... The Caribbean food here is top-notch! I have no complaints. The homemade authentic Jamaican dishes are definitely worth the wait. They even accommodated my low-carb diet with options like Jerk Tofu and steamed vegetables. I couldn't resist trying the homemade dumplings covered in jerk hot sauce. The curry chicken roti is enough for two meals and the coleslaw is delicious. I heard the oxtail was the best ever. If you enjoy authentic Caribbean cuisine, do not miss this place!
So good. We ordered the goat curry in chapati and jerk shrimp with peas and rice (beans and rice? Literally amazing, the flavours were phenomenal! Two words of warning: I love spicy food—I broke my nose and can no longer taste the full spice profile—and I found the jerk shrimp very spicy. Always eat with the coleslaw provided, it makes the experience! Second, the goat still had bones not a problem, just be aware! So delicious. Will def be ordering again!
Experience a little bit of the Caribbean in the heart of downtown St. John's, just a stone's throw away from George Street. The chicken curry in roti was both delicious and generously sized, while the beef patties rivaled any I've had in the Caribbean. The staff and owners were very friendly, providing great service throughout our dining experience. I must say I'm pretty impressed. I'm from Toronto so I'm very well cursed with Caribbean restaurants. I had the oxtail dinner and I very sure it's the largest portion of oxtail I've ever gotten my life. The rice and the beans and the coleslaw were all fabulous and he also had a side order of jerk chicken and that was also great. I give it the Jamaican thumbs up!
Unreal food. Jerk Chicken is my go to but I also really enjoy their Patti Sandwich. Their Jerk dishes are a bit spicy so if you're the kind of person who can only eat the mildest of sauces you should stick to one of the Patties. They also have quite literally the single greatest coleslaw I've ever tasted.

Best place to eat at on a late night. We played chess while eating oxtail, the atmosphere is fantastic and the crew is even better. Thanks for a wonderful night!
