This is a charming little place to enjoy crab or shrimp tacos, among other delicious options. We visited on a Saturday afternoon, and while it was quite busy, we managed to snag a spot at the bar. They offer a selection of local beers on draft, along with a wider variety available in cans or bottles. We tried the shrimp taco, grouper taco, and a fried grouper sandwich. Everything was tasty, but I deducted a star because the shrimp taco contained only three small shrimp, which was disappointing. We recently had our first dining experience at this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by it. The atmosphere is simple yet inviting. Our server, Matthew, was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to answer our questions. We truly appreciated his cheerful demeanor. They also have a happy hour for drinks until 7:00 PM, which is a wonderful perk. Both of us ordered the fish and chips, and it was outstanding. The cod was thick, moist, and flaky, and the beer batter was excellent. We hope the quality remains consistent, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!
Delicious Food, Excellent Service, Great Atmosphere! We just visited for the second time and once again left impressed by the relaxed ambiance, attentive service, and tasty dishes. The menu offers a wide variety of options without feeling cluttered. The salsa provided with the chips is fantastic, and the quesadillas feature light, crispy tortillas instead of the usual soggy or overcooked ones found at many places. The fish tacos are a must-try, and everything is made with fresh vegetables and some of the best sauces we've experienced. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Surf Shack has quickly become my favorite place for macaroni and cheese. My go-to dish is the filet with mushrooms and onions, though the spinach, bacon, and goat cheese option is also really tasty. The filet is incredibly tender, and the crunchy haystack onions on top provide an excellent texture contrast. The pasta is cooked just right and features a creamy mix of Monterey Jack and American cheese. While I enjoy the richer dishes, Loren prefers their salads, and this time he chose the chicken walnut salad.

However, I wasn't a fan of the fish tacos. I tried three different kinds of shrimp as well as blackened grouper and longboard cod, and unfortunately, they were all rather bland, and the accompanying sauces didn’t impress either. That said, we are absolutely planning to return for the all-you-can-eat crab because it was outstanding and super delicious! I wouldn’t consider myself a huge crab leg lover, but after this experience, I think I might be converted!
Great Atmosphere. While I wish there were more meat-free options available, we really enjoy the ambiance, and my husband is a fan of their burritos. It's a nice touch to have free chips and salsa at the beginning, and the service has been consistently good during our visits. I usually opt for one of the burritos and get the meat on the side.
The BEST tacos I've ever had in Tampa! I live in South Tampa and made my way to Westchase, and Surf Shack was absolutely fantastic. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was incredibly enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it!
Absolutely amazing! The prices are incredible, especially during the weekend crab specials and Taco Thursdays. I've had some of the best steak tacos here. I will definitely return whenever I'm in the Tampa area!

After just one visit, I've made up my mind. The coleslaw was completely bland, the bang bang shrimp appeared undercooked, and the Surfer Basket was overcooked to the extent that it was inedible.
The Surf Shack had a fantastic atmosphere, and the food was amazing!
