My daughter and I were looking for a place to have dinner while we were on St. Paul Street in St. Catharines and decided to try Sushi Ai. We had never been to this restaurant and at first we were a bit apprehensive about the food since we were only 1 of 2 parties in the restaurant at that time. Boy were we surprised! The food was not only delicious but fresh. The sushi/sashimi was truly fresh (NOT rubbery, thawed out frozen shrimp, salmon, tuna, octopus, etc.). The tempura was served hot and the accompanying sauces hot and tasty. The prices were also at par with all the other Japanese/Thai "all you can eat" restaurants in the area. So we've eaten here in the past while visiting NOTL and it's always been good. Unfortunately on this occurrence, we were disappointed. Service seemed to off on this visit - they seemed unsure of themselves and often food sat under the warmer waiting for pick up. Our food was also little disappointing this time, toast was slathered in butter, fruit wasn't fresh, and both our poached eggs contained shell bits...disappointing - a bit of a turn off. We won't write this location off but I hope they can appreciate the fair comments.
People on this website complain about the service or the quality of the food, but that's never been my experience at all. I eat dinner at Sushi Ai at least once a month, and I always receive perfect service and incredible food. The staff have no problem with dietary restrictions, and do their best to help make every visit perfect. Most importantly, the fish is always fresh - unlike some other local sushi restaurants. I love this place. It's my favourite restaurant.
First time at this restaurant. The food was very good. Everything we tried tasted good and was fresh. Lots of choices on the menu.Staff was friendly too.Would be nice if they had menu sheets to make your orders instead of just telling the waitress as it was hard to remember what we ordered or what was coming...but that is a minor thing. This is my first time at sushi ai and I gotta say I'm not impressed with the service at all I sat there for 20 min for them to take my order and I've been waiting 40 min so far for any food to come out! This is ridiculous! The food is below average wouldn't recommend to anyone. Also it's street parking so plan on bringing lots for the meter because just for lunch I've been here over 2 hours
First impression was basic restaurant that had been there for decades. I think that is true because it seemed to get busy quickly for lunch. Good selection. Fresh food and served hot. Good service too. Had to wait a bit for the bill which bugs me, but overall very good experience so I will return.
Great selection of all you can eat options. Everything was quite tasty and service was good. Parking can be a bit challenging downtown but otherwise, everything was great.

Doesn't look like much from the outside but it is clean and the food was great. Good value for the price too!
