I wanted to reach out and share my experience at Sushi Izakaya, a hidden gem located on King Street. While parking may be a bit difficult in the area, I assure you that the food at this establishment is absolutely amazing.During my visit, I had the opportunity to try several dishes that I highly recommend. Firstly, the Hamachi kama, a grilled yellowtail collar, was a true highlight. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the fish was cooked to perfection. Additionally, the spicy Tuna rolls were exceptionally delicious, with just the right amount of kick to tantalize the taste buds. This is an amazing little restaurants. They have lots of options on their menu, izakaya, sushi etc.. and surprisingly each dish is well curated and special in their own way. And even with the various items on their menu, they still manage to make lots of home made stuff life tofu, seasonings, pickles. Each dish is well designed and meticulously prepared. Really top quality restaurant. Strongly recommend!!!I’d visit this place frequently if it were in the city I live in.
had the 155usd omakase for dinner. the chef is funny and friendly and if she happens to sit in the sushi bar, the chef will tell them about the fish as it was prepared and some anecdotes. fish are usually flown daily from japan after the auction, therefore the price for dinner. the load is something hidden from the view, as its unannounced on a third floor building and its easily missed from the street view.
After trying a number of sushi spots on Oahu, Gaku has come out on top as my absolute favorite. Their nigiri combination is fantastic, and the deluxe is a worthy upgrade. Every nigiri was delightful, and there were no duds in the bunch. Their o toro is the freshest, cleanest, and most melt-in-your mouth that I've had in this city. Traditional izakaya restaurant in Honolulu serving great food and drinks. Sushi was fresh and tasty with seating formatted in the traditional horigotatsu style. Friendly service with staff speaking both Japanese and English. A little on the expensive side but quality of food served was great.
finally after sushi maruyama! they enjoy the delicious Omakase experience at the Sushi counter! great service by friendly and funny workers! they enjoy the new and different styles of sushi preparations and new fishing that we had not tried before.
Gaku never EVER disappoints! Fantastic food and lovely staff! Having a meal here is always such a treat!Parking: There is a small parking lot in the back but it may be a bit of a squeeze for large SUVs.
