We were a large group for a birthday on a Saturday night... the food was impeccable and the service was great! The prices were decent and the portions reflected the price. The sushi was fresh and delicious. For dessert we had a deep fried mars bar which left a smile on all of our faces. The only issues is the parking.... there is street parking which is free after 10pm but let's be real, who eats after that?! There are a few green P lots and if you circle the streets a few times you will eventually find parking. They do ticket so make sure you pay for the parking even if it's 30 mins. On a friends' recommendation, we chose to pick up a mid-week dinner at Sushi Moto. We start w. their Miso Soup ($1.95), quite flavourful without being overly salty. Their Spicy Tuna Salad (#11 - $12.95), composed of tuna sushi placed on a bed of lettuce and topped w. red beet and carrot spirals was fresh, refreshing and a real treat on a Summer's Eve. Ditto for their Avocado salad (#3 - $5.95). Followed by California Maki (#9 - $6.95) a well-executed rendition of this standard offering. Their spicy kamikaze special maki (#12 - $11.95) which next to the Spicy Tuna was one my favourite dishes. We chose this restaurant as our friends recommended for us while we're looking for Japanese dishes.We took several plates to the table for sharing, total of the same amount of people we're at the table.We completely love the atmosphere, seats were comfortable and service was pretty quick and convenient.However, the final price was pretty high to a restaurant outside of downtown Toronto.I won't come back that quickly as this isn't one I could afford every other week or so.However, if you're traveling and outside of town - feel free to stop by and enjoy a dinner over here.Make sure to order a table. Otherwise, you'll probably need to wait in busy nights.
We recently went to Sushi Moto prior to seeing a play at the nearby North York Centre for the Performing Arts, This is a perfect location for a pre-theatre dinner. The decor is modern; our server was friendly and knowledgeable and the food was delicious. We ordered a small sashimi. It was presented in a wooden boat. The fish was very fresh. I was hesitating when I saw the restaurant at first from the outside, but I was surprised when we went in! Beautiful place! The service is excellent! There was always someone to serve us when we needed it. The food was great! We shared a maki combo and we had won ton soup... excellent! I highly recommand it.
I have been to Sushi Moto several times and have brought friends there. The staff is very accommodating to diet restrictions (gluten free) and the fish is always fresh. I think it's because the place is always busy which is a good sign the fish is not sitting too long. Joe, the manager is very hospitable.
All staffs shout out "Welcome" in Japanese and makes you feel that way as you enter the restaurant. I found their sushi bar anchored the layout of the restaurant very well. You feel the vibe and fast turn over on their sushi - a great sign for a sushi restaurant! Will always get there for a great dinner.
This was my first time at this restaurant and the staff was very attentive and very helpful. They were able to give me suggestions on the large menu. Everything I tried was great. We golfed close by so we went to try this place out. Wow! We had superb food and the service was really excellent. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the food.
