We were looking for a light early evening meal in St Carles de la Rapita and most of the restaurants don 't open until 9pm. We 'd passed all the 'plastic ' tapas places along the Placa de Carles III in the centre of town and were unimpressed. Almost giving up we turned right at the end of Carles III, down through the Placa d 'Espanya and into Carrer de Sant Francesc, where we spotted a small place with a few tables outside. Venturing into what turned out to be a tiny place. only three small tables, we found a real Aladdin 's cave a traditional Spanish taberna adorned with posters, pictures, hams hanging from the ceiling and dozens of dust covered bottles of wine.
