Taberna Dos Cabroes

Found this local tavern by accident. The people were welcoming, friendly and Portuguese. But with our few words of Spanish, their few words of English, a lot of gestures and Google translate we had an outstanding dinner. The vegetables, tomatoes,lettuce and onion salad, as well as the potatoes were grown in their garden, the fish was caught by a local fisherman and the fresh mango was the sweetest mango we have ever tasted. The appetizer was thinly sliced, dried, salted pork-very tasty. Wine was local, very good and very inexpensive. Their efforts to make a nice evening will be forever in our memories.

A real taberna (the portuguese concept of tavern): very good food, unpretentious atmosphere, friendly service and reasonable prices. As a starter you must order torrresmos STEC the best pork rind/crackling supplied by a awarded producer close to the the restaurant. The overall experience of coming to this restaurant is quite good. However, I have to warn you it won't be a relaxed meal! The acoustic in the room is terrible and you'll feel that you're talking louder than you do in a normal conversation. They grill meat and fish extremely well, but I strongly recommend Cozido À Portuguesa if you want something different. I somehow feel that there is a hype about this place and that the prices are a bit higher than they should.

Very nice experience. The employees are just fantastic. Extremely friendly and super attentional. The cook, I think he is as well the owner, was very friendly and made the right suggestions. The picanha was the best we ever had...no joke. Will return definitely. Don't be irritated by the look of the place.

Aconselho-o a este restaurante. todos os pratos que tentei há muitos bons, mas eu desprezo as iscas. Isso é maravilhoso. Taxa de preço/qualidade muito boa.
