This is a restaurant at the Rama airport. It's great to see small planes landing and taking off while you enjoy a delicious meal. The menu is small, but what they do, they do right. The fish chips were so good the boyfriend had ribs which he enjoyed too. They have steak, a few burgers, sandwiches and a few appetizers too. It didn't hit the pocketbook too hard, it was worth it especially since it been nearly 2 years since we've been able to go out for dinner. The staff are very friendly and gently remind us to wear a mask when we leave our table. If you're wanting to watch planes go on Friday/Saturday and the weather is nice.
Thought we'd stop into Tailwinds for lunch one rainy afternoon. It's always a good spot to go in and get warmed up. Nice atmosphere, great staff and delicious food. We both had their home made French onion soup which was great. Lots of perfectly seasoned broth, onions, not too much bread and loads of smooth, melted cheese on top. Shared a side salad which was the perfect amount for the two of us. Prices are good and it's fun to watch the planes come and go. Happy to get a booth too and they're taking care of us by being safe and following all Covid protocols. Love coming here.
loved the actual restaurant and its atmosphere. we got a sandwich and fries "In-house montreal smoked meat brisket the senf was quite the only taste. the material in the squeeze bottle, which never showed up to the side, was the only taste for both sandwiches. the pommes were the same. everything that was to save the beer was just seriously slandered. the surrounding guests seemed to be satisfied with their meal times, so I think only do not order sandwiches or pommes. I'm going back, in for the situation and the atmosphere. finger crossed for eating next time.
the fish and the chips ordered, but they forgot the tartaric acid sauce and the cauliflower. how do they enjoy fish and chips without the tartaric acid sauce? her waitress seems unorganized. it does not verify the completeness and accuracy of the order and ensures that each detail is present. the service is bad. While I did not ask the others here, it was regrettable that I had to deal with this mediocre service and when I came back, waitress gave me this tiny piece of cauliflower that is probably a bit unacceptable.
had dinner tonight with my important other night. we started with “Lasagna soup” and cheesy bacon brot, both were brilliant. our “goods” were a “Krispy chicken sandwich” and “Baby back Ribs” that we also enjoyed very much. we had no place for dessert, so we passed on to this offer. the atmosphere is cool because it is located on the ground of a small air strip. to see many cool float aircraft. the service was good, the prices were appropriate with the quality of food. we would return very likely.

This is a first!Being picked up at the dock, flown over land and lakes, touching down in water, then driving up a ramp (amphibious wheel floats) to a parking spot a few feet away from this magnificent spot designed for the aviator clients was truly a unique and wonderful experienceFabulous dining location with appealing and tasteful decor for the aviation enthusiasts.Great food and service which is normally the top rank markers, was the bonus in this case.Thank you GSN and Tailwinds!!!
we found this jewel of a facility in late summer 2021 and have visited more than a dozen times! the atmosphere in the inner is cozy and full of positive fever with the live weekend entertainment, but the terrace feeling is pleasant and quiet for a beautiful day meal. everything we have tried so far on the menu was professionally prepared and served, we would recommend everyone and everyone!
The patio has a nice and relaxing atmosphere where you can watch the float planes take off and land. The food was excellent, especially the Frenched pork schnitzel and Tailwind club sandwich that we ordered. Overall, I would rate the food a perfect 5 out of 5.
Great atmosphere, especially it you are an aviation buff. The food took a little while to come, but was definitely worth the wait. Great opportunity to see the day to day operations of the YLK airport, while enjoying a meal.
