I found Tanpopo Ramen and Sake Bar while I was looking for Yelp to eat the last time in Albany. I live in Vermont and go to Albany for a “minimum holiday” on my days from running my own restaurant. So it took a few weeks to make it and I drove straight from Vermont to Tanpopo on a Monday night after I worked. I knew when I was going to the LOVE IT restaurant. Tanpopo is located in Albany’s Warehouse District, which is quite full of restaurants (strong representation from the "pub" sector. I love authentic old town. Not unusual, not pretentious. It was one random winter when I visited this place. I remember ramen was normally nice and I enjoyed fried rice a lot because its flavor with butter plus soy sauce was actually my favorite recipe generally for fried rice, one I actually cook for myself quite often. Interior looked quite interesting and attractive too, looking more like casual bar-ish. Minus one star was mainly due to cold temperature in the restaurant to the extent that it made my dishes chill so quickly, as a result its taste quality ended up degrading.
The best ramen in Albany and one of the finest in New York! The blend of aromas in the soup is incredible. The broth is exceptional, the meat melts in your mouth, and the noodles are superb. The restaurant has a modern retro vibe, having once been a diner, which gives it a unique charm for a Japanese establishment. Be sure to try the Sami Bombs and the Tonkotsu, their popular ramen option!
My wife I were in town for a wedding and this place was heavily recommended by a bartender at another local restaurant. From the atmosphere, to the beer, to the ramen, it was a delicious incredible experience. The spicy tanpopo ramen was a great hangover cure my wife (who is vegan) thoroughly enjoyed their veggie ramen. Try the green matcha IPA if it’s available! Tucked away inside this charming 1940s diner, you'll find a fantastic Ramen and Sake restaurant. The muted pig bell was incredible—definitely some of the best I've tasted. I also tried the curry wheels for the first time, and they were spicy and delicious; great recommendation, Becky! I'm already looking forward to my next visit to enjoy more of their dishes.

The server was extremely friendly and offered some great suggestions for those of us who were undecided (everything looked delicious). We ordered the pork chops, Tanpopo Spicy Ramen, and Curry Ramen. Both ramen dishes were rich, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. The hint of spiciness in the curry was especially delightful.
The Ramen was both flavorful and soothing. Perfect for a cold day. The quality of the ingredients were top notch and the portions were generous. Our server was kind and attentive. Came here with some friends that highly recommended. Ramen didn’t disappoint at all They were out on a couple of draft beers; place looks like it’s a popular hotspot. Can’t blame them though, the food is good.
