I can’t speak to how authentic the cuisine is, but I can say that we had a delicious and hot meal during our visit to Bloomington today. The salsa was full of flavor—my wife found it a bit on the spicy side, but I loved it. The guacamole was more suited to her taste. As soon as I saw they offered tongue, I knew I had to try it. I ordered the cow tongue burrito, and the meat was cooked perfectly and bursting with flavor. My wife chose the fish tacos, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Our toddler had a blast pulling apart the tacos, and I also had a taste of the beef taco, which was excellent. The service was fantastic too. Whenever we find ourselves in town again, we will definitely return here!
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant and didn't even sit down. I placed a to-go order 30 minutes in advance, but when I arrived, I had to wait an hour for my food. I understand that restaurants can get busy, but it's simply unacceptable to keep a customer waiting like that. To make matters worse, when I finally reached the counter, my food was ready, but the two waitresses were rude and clearly overwhelmed by their workload. Just because it's busy doesn't mean it's okay to treat customers poorly.
My fiancé and I really enjoyed the food at Taqueria El Porton. We ordered the steak fajita burrito and steak gorditas, and they were both delicious and satisfying. The wait for our food was a little long, but we didn’t realize they offered carryout. Now that we know, we’ll be calling ahead to order our tasty meals next time.
