We come to Paris every year and always start our visit with lunch at this beautiful brasserie, and we always have the vast Fruits de Mer Royal Platter, with a good bottle of Chablis. We were really looking forward to our lunch this year but it all fell a bit flat, not because of the food or wine (both of which were excellent as ever) but because of the service. We had booked a table as always, but on arrival were taken to a very quiet area right at the back of the building and away from the buzz of the main restaurant. Our waitress was pleasant at first, but as time passed she seemed to lose control of her section. We were unable to attract her attention to both get our plates of empty shell...
My son (who travels with me) is a chef. He loves this place for the quality of the food and the presentation. I love it also for the quality of the food, the ambience and the staff who are excellent. A special mention for the Maitrasse who is extremely efficient, very friendly and helpful and who has a pehnomenal memory she recognised us from our visits 12 moths ago. It's not cheap but it is good. Very much worth pushing the boat out a bit and with the added bonus that you can keep an eye on the train departures/arrivals while you eat. It is also open incredibly long hours, great for late arrivals like us.
Lovely meal here. Everything very French and just how you imagine a French bistro. So I went full French meal. Onion soup, steak, frites and then profiteroles. The whole meal was great. Very good atmosphere and excellent service. A great way to end our trip
The pros : quick service, good value for money, typical brasserie experience, large choice of dishes and alcohol, good seafood platters The cons : it was a bit difficult at times to get the waitress’ attention.
