I was at the tav Friday night at 6:30pm, drinking my coke zero and was checked for ID. Now, i'm 29years old and I look it but unfortunately I couldn't produce my ID (left it at home on the bench).My friend was able to produce her ID(she's 29) and we explained to the security person that we were only having dinner and NOT drinking alcohol at all. We went on a Sunday for lunch and were fascinated! Lots of places to sit... indoors, under a verandah outside and an outside courtyard area. There is a fire in the inside bar area. We managed to get the last table under the verandah outside without booking. There were a few inside but it was noisier.Golden Ridge farm had some animals for the kids and there was an indoor play area.Despite there being 500, yes, five hundred people, the service was efficient and we got a full meal faster than we had at a cafe where there were about 12 people! After a couple of hours at the driving range just down the road, a bite of lunch was definitely needed. We were driving to one of the garden shops where we'd had a decent meal in the past, but decided to give the Tavern a try.Very glad that we did! First impressions good; a large room but clean and quite well-lit with a fairly modern décor. Drinks from a friendly barman, who was quick to warn that the large glass of wine was over 2 standard drinks, so may not be a great idea for the driver. Very responsible service of alcohol indeed! Unless you pay a membership everything cost $1 to $2 more, and it's already over $7 a beer. The food is just rubbish. Every time I have ever been. I only ever come here now is if I'm invited with a group.Last Friday night my wife and I ordered Chimichangas and got two tasteless burritos. We also ordered a beef nachos for a starter to share but got a main meal sized nachos. As soon as we saw it we told the chef, but no discount was offered, just a 'sorry about that'. Stopped for a quick lunch on the way home, ordered lamb souvlaki and was given a pager. From where I was sitting, I could see my meal when it was put on the pass. After it sat there for the better part of five minutes, I asked the staff if it was mine. "Sorry, your pager mustn't be working." No, someone forgot to send the pager signal.Most kitchen staff respectfully constrained or cropped their hair, except for one cook with floppy hair all over his forehead. I wonder how much ended up in the food?Despite the staff issues, I did enjoy the meal. The lamb was tender, and I liked the smoky hommus and grilled pita.
Great place for a meal. A bar with an inside and outside eating areas. There are separate bars and a room for the punter with races on TV and betting available (TAB). Membership can save a few dollars on meals and drinks and worth joining.Food is either Bistro Mexican outside or a range of meals similar to what you would find in a club .e.g. schnitzels, burgers pasta. Good coffee and desserts. Kid friendly so if you don't want that then come later in the evening. Two large parking areas.
My wife and I had lunch here and the food has always been quite good and service quite good.We ordered a Mexican Prawn dish but were served a Vietnamese Prawn dish as they didn't have any prawns for a Mexican Dish. Do prawns know which dish they will go into?We ate what we were served and still enjoyed, but it would have been nice to get what we ordered.
We had a very large table of family to farewell my mother who had just passed.What a great place to gather, eat some excellent food and enjoy a very cold Aussie beer!A very friendly venue, a variety of places to sit, gamble, tv or just as we did, swap seats as we drank and ate and caught upas a family.

I ordered off the Mexican menu, and the rest of the group ordered at the bistro. We all had great meals at reasonable prices. They are ready at different times, but that wasn't a problem. This place is popular every night of the week.
Great atmosphere all ages catered for. Guitarist lovely background music Play area for kids. Lovely to sit outdoors and socialise.
