On the first night, I brought home turkey wings, collard greens, candied yams, and mac and cheese. My brother, who is a chef, was so impressed that he asked, "Where is this place again?" Although I found the greens a bit too salty for my liking, the overall experience was great.
On the second night, I ordered food for both sides of my family—my mom’s and dad’s—and everyone absolutely loved it. We ended up going back twice because my mom couldn’t get enough of the perfectly fried fish!

I think I’ll be returning to Harlem soon, but I have to say I'm quite disappointed with my recent experience. I ordered the all-fish option for my family and me, and I was really upset by the portion size. The fish was barely the size of my pinky finger! There wasn’t even enough for us to debate over who would get the bigger piece—there simply wasn’t one. If you’re going to serve such small portions, at least include extra pieces. I’m really disappointed; I can't afford to waste my money like this. Please do better, people!
I had a great experience at this restaurant. The atmosphere was wonderful, and it was very clean. The music had an old-school vibe, which I really enjoyed. The staff was warm and friendly, making me feel welcome. The food was served hot and tasted delicious, with generous portions. And that banana pudding? It's definitely like grandma used to make! I left feeling full and had an amazing time overall. One suggestion would be to get a liquor license – that would really elevate the experience!
Yesss finally a good soul food spot! This place is good. I knew they was good when I tried they banana pudding because y’all know ppl can mess that up quick. Same with max and cheese and everTrying was really good! I got fish, mac rice , and yams with banana pudding! Yummmm will be ordering again

The food at Tessey’s is truly worth every penny. The fish was fried to perfection and seasoned beautifully. The mac and cheese was rich and cheesy, while the collard greens were flavorful and free of grit. If you’re in search of mouthwatering soul food, this is the spot. You won’t regret it.
The highlight of the meal was the BBQ chicken and yams, which were truly delicious. The jerk chicken and oxtail had decent seasoning but could have benefited from some gravy. The mac and cheese and rice were average, while the greens were noticeably more flavorful than the cabbage.
The food is absolutely delicious! The owner is very polite and professional, and so is her staff. It is a bit on the expensive side, but I assure you, it's worth every bite of this heavenly delight. Your taste buds won't be disappointed!
I’m from Philadelphia and this is my second time visiting this place. I always eat at this particular restaurant, and their food is amazing! I don’t usually write reviews, but this spot is definitely in my top 5 without a doubt.

The portions are generous and the flavors are superb. This has become my favorite spot to order from. The mac and cheese is exceptional, and everything was perfect.
Oxtails, Mac and cheese and collard greens were ON POINT! Portions could have been bigger considering the price but I would definitely order again!!
