I have stooped at numerous cafes in Austria and mostly enjoyed the food and drink. However, Teufner isn't on the same level as those I have been to. Apple strudel should be simple to make but the one here is way over simplified with minimal...work done to prepare it. The crust should be flakey and one should not have to fight to cut it as I experienced. Service was good and the price was low. My recommendation in Melk is to walk down the hill into town, spend some more and enjoy what you are eating.

If you are in Melk you need to stop to this small and nice shop. They have excellent sweets for all tastes and on top of that the staff is super nice and friendly. The lady was extremely nice, she cut the poppy seed-plums cake...slice and nuts-apricots cake slice in half for me in order to taste both of them because i could not decide what to take. Both of them are delicious with great seasonal ingredients
Wir wohnten nur eine Nacht in Melk und besuchten anschließend das Kloster Teufners. Es war Mardi Gras Day, es war also viel los und alle waren in Partylaune, aber wir wurden in Teufners sehr herzlich empfangen. Leckere Suppe, tolles Brot und feiner Weißwein. Unsere Gastgeberin, deren Tochter das Café leitet, war sehr hilfsbereit und hat mit ihren Ratschlägen unseren Besuch mit lokalem Wein abgerundet. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

Very interesting experience,we tried few cakes, were very good. The best price 2,6 euro 1 slice kardinal schnitte , the best kardinal schnitte from this area.Another cake very good was esterhazy schnitte .Enjoy them !
