Texas Charcoal Chicken

So glad to see Texas Charcoal Chicken in Five dock still doing wonderful and going strong since my family started this shop back in 1985. The hanging sign outside on top, and shop sign out the front still our original sign since 1985. And still the same phone number. My fathers idea for this shop was to have the best secret herbs and spices charcoal chicken in Australia. And the chips are still made exactly how we use to cook them. In a special oil. I still remember the opening day when we had distributed $1 fake printed token leaflets to every single mail box in Five Dock to get a $1 off the chicken for the first week. What a day that was. Customers queued out to the street. My father died...

The chips are delicious as is the BBQ chicken. When my father visits he always requests I have his favourite chips waiting when he arrives. The staff always greet you with a friendly smile. The wait can sometimes be longer than expected however only when the shop is busy. To me, a busy store indicates good food. I'd prefer to wait for quality than be rushed through a 'drive thru' for limp and under cooked food. Definitely worth a visit to try their famous chips.

I went with my friends to this restaurant across the river about this chicken place. We ordered the highly requested Chips and gravy roll. It tasted crispy and delicious. The bread was a little stale and crunchy for my taste but the Chips and gravy was the best part of the meal. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Although my brother was there and there were little meat-free options. Overall, good service and amazing food.

Best chicken and chips in Sydney, and I've had plenty! The staff are super friendly and you can eat outside in the sun or inside on bar-style stools. When I came in and asked for some chicken and chips, there were chips sitting there and the owner asked me to try them and asked me if they were fresh enough. That moment when you find out that your local charcoal chicken shop has the world's greatest chips. I'm having touble walking past it without buying chips. My waistline might never recover. Best chips EVER...and the chicken is rather lovely too.

I've been buying my chook and chips here since 1996 and am never disappointed. Even with the recent sale the new owners have kept up the wonderful tradition of high quality produce.

Best place in the area for BBQ chicken. Love their seasoning. This is a Five Dock institution as has been their for decades as still as good as ever

Great chicken and chips!!!! What more can i say. Ate here a few days on a row on a work trip and wasnt disappointed
