I told the owner/waitress the PadThai was too salty and the beef panang sauce was very thin and no flavor at all and the meat was very tough! it doesn't taste like the typical beef panang! Another great find in Slidell! Nestled in a strip mall that has seen a host of people come and go over the years, I have driven past this spot any number of times and never pulled in until today and it wasn't even my idea. But NEXT time it will be! As soon as you walk in you feel the intimacy of the place. Located right near a busy road, it was quiet even calming on the inside. The decor was appealing and the music was also congruent with the moment. As a fan of green curry, I couldn't resist trying it here. While it wasn't among my top favorites, it was still quite enjoyable. The flavors were delicious and spicy, which I appreciated. I just wish the curry had a stronger coconut milk flavor; it seemed a bit watery compared to others I've tried that are creamier. Nevertheless, it was tasty enough that I would order it again if my preferred option wasn't available. I also sampled the Cheese Rolls and the Crispy Spring Rolls. Both were excellent! Don't walk, run to this place! The meal was amazing—fresh and high quality! The staff were fantastic; everyone was incredibly friendly. For appetizers, we had the Cheese Rolls and the Blanket Shrimp, both of which were delicious! The Egg Drop Soup was the best I've ever had, with a rich garlic and onion broth. For the main course, the Drunken Noodles and Seafood Tom Yum were both packed with flavor and tasted incredibly fresh. The entire meal was delightful from start to finish. It was my first experience here after someone who was very enthused to eat Thai suggested this location. She had the drunken noodles and we both had the hot and sour soup. It just wasn't tasty and the consistency was questionable. We both agreed it wasn't what we were expecting. Maybe it was an off day but my boss thinks they changed owners and therefore, the menu must have changed.
The Thai food here wasn't the best I've tried on the North Shore, especially compared to at least three other restaurants in Mandeville. I do admire the charming and authentic decor, but the customer service could use some improvement. On a positive note, the Thai tea was very good, and the prices are reasonable.
So after 3 years of avoiding this place I decided to give them another try and OMG. I have ordered the Tofu Tom Yum soup twice a week for over a month now! It's beyond delicious I'll post a pic next time if I remember before devouring my meal.
