We visited the restaurant with a group of friends and ordered around 5-6 dishes, including the Som Tum Salad. We requested everything to be spicy, but what we received was excessively sweet, with an overwhelming amount of dried chili flakes that were quite unpleasant to taste. The sauce and meat had a very strong and off-putting flavor, and there was not a single Thai chili used in the cooking. Having tried various Thai dishes before, I must say this meal lacked any authentic Thai essence; perhaps their standards are just different. Been coming here for years, some of the best Thai food. Great service, good menu, this is a go to place for Thai food for my family and my friends. I like that I can get some good spicy food. I am partial to crazy noodle, Basil basil chicken, and Thom Kha goong; to name a few. Green curry pork with eggplant. These are the small round eggplant... One of my favorites. I bring my celiac family with me; no problems. My celiac family likes the pad Thai and happy family (need the white sauce for gluten free). I tried the egg drop soup, which is gluten free. My sister and I loved our Masaman chicken, curry puffs and crab Rangoon. The Siam gyoza was decent. My bro-in-law seemed to like his lo mein and a huge plate of some kind of tempura shrimp dish (I couldn't find it in the online menu). Hubs enjoyed his salmon fried rice but I found it bland. He kept stealing leftover rangoon sauce. Our server didn't understand that I wanted to pay for all the appetizers for our little celebration though I tried to explain twice. My sister was a good sport about being charged for half.
Siam Orchid is the finest Thai restaurant in Columbus. I attended high school with the owners, and my family has been enjoying meals there for many years, dating back to when their uncle Anan was in charge. The Tom Yum soup is my go-to when I’m feeling under the weather and need a comforting boost. The sesame beef is consistently tender and flavorful. The Thai food here is excellent and truly authentic. However, the portion sizes are smaller compared to similar restaurants, like Chinese or Indian places, especially for takeout. You're looking at around twenty dollars for a modest serving, while you can get much larger portions for less money at those other restaurants. Considering that Indian spices can be pricey too, I'm unsure why Siam Orchid can't offer more. For this reason, I would definitely say it's overpriced.
The curry puffs are absolutely fantastic! I also want to commend the team at Siam Orchid for carefully reading all the notes on each item and labeling everything properly. Everything was packed really well! I was taken aback by a review mentioning small portion sizes, as I found them to be quite generous!
I was hoping for a more authentic Thai dining experience, but I found the dishes to be sweeter than I anticipated. This level of sweetness was evident in all the dishes I sampled, which may have been due to the sauces used. It wasn't quite what I was looking for, so I likely won't return.

The Panang was absolutely delicious! The kids' meals were quite generous and incredibly tasty. They were served on adorable plates that my children really enjoyed. We will definitely return!
