On or about 2/1/24, i ordered two meals at Thai Sweet Basil (heraeafter TSB) and when I went to pick up the order I presented two gift certificates that i had bought from the business on one of their promotions. They rejected the gift certificates, saying NEW OWNERS, these were sold to you by the old owners. I said, this is still the same named business...you take the good and the bad, but they refused to honor the gift certs. I told the sixty year old looking manager, then I 'm not coming back over here, ever, and he said he didn 't care. Watch out! I hope you are better treated if you go there. Carlos
This Thai place is local favorite. A lot of take out. Not many dine in customer. The wait for take out is 20 minutes. We also got the take out. This restaurant is located on last corner building plaza. We got the Cashew Nut chicken. The sauce and ingredients is there. Good wok technique. We also got the Penang curry pork. Sauce is good. Ok curry. The only thing I would said is the quantity is small compared to many Thai restaurants. I would not suggest this restaurant if you really hungry. Overall is the food is ok. Just average restaurant among the Thai restaurants I have visited.
Sooooo...the great reviews for this spot must be from locals in the North Dale area. I ordered Thai Basil and Crab Rangoon togo. Crab Rangoon- description stated cream cheese, imitation crab meat and curry. There was not any crabmeat in any of the 6 pieces that I broke open. Only curried cream cheese. Thai Basil with chicken- The sauce is unusually sweeter than I've eaten from most Thai restaurants. Also there was no Basil in either of our dishes as stated in the description. I will not be returning as what is stated on the menu is not what comes in the dish.
The service continues to treat customers like necessary evils, the food portions continue to decrease in size while prices increases. Its unfortunate because the recipes that were past down when the place was sold a decade or so ago are still the same, but it appears that the sense of pride is gone from this establishment. We used to come to this restaurant weekly, now we come only once a year. I really hope this restaurant recommits itself to prioritizing the customer experience.

This is it. We've found our go-to Thai place. Other spots in Tampa have been adequate but Thai Sweet Basil stands head and shoulders above. The chicken Pad Thai, a quick barometer, was the right balance of tangy, savory, and peanutty. The noodles for the Pad See Ew were the exact right consistency (elusive in this town). This is our spot now. We will be getting takeout often.
I'm pretty obsessed with Thai food and have eaten at too many restaurants to count. I'm a curry fiend specifically and TSB is hands down the best in the area. I drive past another Thai restaurant to go here, because it's worth the extra 10 minutes. Panang curry is dynamite and some of my favorite I've had anywhere.
This place is amazing and I'm totally hooked. I eat here at least once a week but would come more frequently if I could. My fave dish is the TSB noodles. I can't seem to replicate it anywhere else! Only not giving 5 stars because they forgotten small details on my To-Go orders like not adding spice when asked.
