I was really looking forward to this evening, but it unfortunately didn't meet my expectations. The lighting was very dim, with only a small lamp on each table, making it impossible to read the menu without using a flashlight. We had to wait 30 minutes for our meal, and there was no bread while we waited. Both dishes were small and lacked flair. My husband had pasta, which was dry and had very little seafood in it. My barramundi was fine but nothing remarkable. When I asked for the dessert menu, I was instead handed the bill. We decided to leave. I won't be returning.
Had a reservation for 2030 with my wife. Got there 10 minutes early and were escorted down to The Den while they get our table ready. The service down stairs was excellent, however, we kept seeing people come down and then be escorted upstairs to their table before us. 30 minutes after our reservation time I asked the barman who came back 10 minutes afterwards and took us up to our table finally. Excellent food and atmosphere throughout the whole venue.
The crayfish was overwhelmed by rosemary, making it hard to discern the flavor of the protein. Four out of the six oysters had bits of shell due to inadequate preparation. However, the steak we ordered for the main course was delicious and perfectly cooked. While I wouldn’t classify this restaurant as fine dining, it certainly has the prices of one. I’m glad I gave it a try, but I wouldn’t return.
The lunch time setting was delightful with a outdoor view of the river and people casually walking. Each dish was faultless from appetisers (scallops, oysters and bresaola) to the barramandi and marin mains followed by a shared dessert. We were unable to be seated until our designated time and were placed in the bar area, where we were left forgotten. We watched as other guests arrived and were seated promptly, and we had to voice our frustration before we were finally given a table.
The food at this restaurant is quite good, and the service was also pleasant. The view from the table by the windows was lovely. So why am I expressing any complaints? I had dinner here on New Year's Eve, and the experience was mixed...
