This place as been my go to place to eat on Monday for a few months now. I love sitting at the counter and having breakfast or lunch depending on my mood that day. The food and service is always spot on. However on my last visit, 7/1/2024, they added two “skill” games at the counter and at least one more in a booth that I saw. This just kills the whole classic diner vibe that I love so much. The restaurant is always busy when I’m there, so I’m not sure why the owner felt the need to add these trashy machines for a cash grab. Are people really coming in to this establishment looking to gamble?
My husband and I took my mom for lobster for her birthday. Had two people ask us what we wanted to drink. One came back and stated they didn't have what my mom ordered. After we received our drinks, it was some time before someone came to get our order. When the food came, the lobster and the steak tips were warm not hot. (It was not overly busy. We also were never told or asked if we would like a glass of complimentary wine. Mediocre dinner that was disappointing.
Been coming here for years, and the food has always been great. However, on a recent visit, we sat near the kitchen, and the chefs were screaming some very unfriendly things, cussing, and disrespecting the waitstaff “shut up, woman” . Also, the strawberries on top of the Belgian waffle were sour and hot. When I asked if there were any non-frozen strawberries, they said they didn’t.
Pricing is outrageous compared to other restaurants in the area. I will not be going back. 7 dollars for a side of bacon. Are you kidding! I understand about the times now. But when you go up the road to another restaurant and pas 3 dollars for a side of bacon and get the same amount. Ridiculous. And bacon is just one item there's more items that are ridiculously priced.

We all ordered the lobster tail dinner, and it was absolutely delicious! It was even larger than I expected. The service was fantastic, with friendly and efficient waitstaff. We will definitely be returning!
The food was very good and a lot of it. A large selection to choose from. Service was great and prices were very reasonable. Would definitely recommend giving it a try!
I have been visiting the Avenue Diner since shortly after the flood of '72, and I have nothing negative to say about this place—it’s outstanding!
The menu is fantastic, offering a wide range of choices, and there are various seating options available. The service is outstanding!
