The Axe And Compasses

We ate Sunday lunch last weekend and the quality and quantity of the food was, as always, excellent. Despite being pretty full, the service remains prompt and courteous. It’s so nice that when you order tap water this is served with ice and lemon and not with the frown you so often get at other establishments. I can heartily recommend the Axe and Compasses for great food, service and ambience.

We have often gone to the Axe and Compasses for lunch, or for a cheeky good value midweek evening meal. We are always welcomed warmly and fed well, and so it was the obvious choice for our Christmas dinner this year. The food was great, service organised brilliantly and ot rushed, and as always the atmosphere was fantastic. Cannot thank the entire team enough for a fantastic afternoon.

Our first visit after a friend made a recommendation. Whilst we enjoyed the evening and would return there was a disappointment when one of the main courses was not hot when served. We advised the waitress who took the dish away and it returned having been heated up at a guess in a microwave.

Lovely decor. Good food. Menu online is different but it’s good decent food.
