The Barley Oak - Tisch resevieren

Barley Oak is a restaurant located on the North Shore. The beer selection was plentiful but didn’t have many local crafts brews. The food is decent, but my experience was mixed. I ordered the Reuben, which did not cover the bread halfway-covered with meat, and the potato salad was just alright. Unfortunately, the floors and bar felt dirty and sticky, could’ve been the humidity from outdoors as it was a very warm afternoon. The bathroom was also far from clean, with a sticky floor that made walking unpleasant . The dining experience was passable, with bartenders who were okay but not particularly attentive. Great local beer bar. They have a great selection of draft beers. Really nice view of the lake front. Good spot to stop when walking , biking or just driving through. I recently visited the Barley Oak. The wide variety of craft beers they offer is truly impressive. I had the pleasure of trying their Purple Haze IPA on draft, and it was nothing short of amazing. But what truly sets the Barley Oak is its location. Situated right by the Mandeville lakefront, it offers breathtaking views of Lake Pontchartrain. On our recent (first) visit to Mandeville we discovered the Barley Oak. Its’ beautiful location overlooking Lake Pontchartrain makes it a busy spot for people to gather at the end of the day. Their huge selection of tap beers and their array of televisions showing regional and national sporting events attract big crowds. In addition, we were blown away by the quality of their food! It is definitely not typical bar food no deep fryer in this kitchen just a variety of delicious choices which kept us coming for dinner on multiple occasions. Barley Oak has a small town vibe over looking the water on the north shore. You can barely see the city of New Orleans high rise buildings on the horizon if you look closely while sitting on the outside deck. We were looking for a place that sold draft beer from many local breweries but the selection was not as wide as we expected. Although they did offer plenty of types of beer. The service was better than expected and were helpful in providing samples for us to chose from. The Reuben sandwich was very good. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Nice place to grab a sandwich and a pint. Had ruben, quesadilla, and a couple of beers. Can recommended all three! Upper balcony bar could use a wipe, (sticky, with an extra helping of dog hair... , so cost them a star. Otherwise very pleasant experience.
