Having come to a very busy restaurant on a Saturday, I understood there could be some time to wait when it came to service, this did not stop the manager nor the waitress staff, we were still served excellently and with superb manners and cheeriness despite the stresses of a busy restaurant. The only thing that let our evening down was not the restaurant, food, staff or service it was other customers. A customer in particular spoke with such a disgusting manner to the manager and waitress, making sure everyone else in the restaurant could hear her irrelevant voice and complaints. We stayed at the campsite for the weekend and were excited for a special anniversary meal at the restaurant. We have been to this restaurant several times in the past and always had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, this time the menu was uninspiring, resembling an expensive pub menu with dishes like burgers, pizzas, fish and chips, and lasagna that we could easily get at our local pub. In previous visits, the menu had a more diverse and interesting selection of dishes. Although the service was good when we arrived, it became slow and we had to wait an hour for our food. We were very disappointed with the menu and it is unlikely that we will return for another visit.
We were looking forward to a good night out and were advised to book because the restaurant was very busy and they had two large parties to cater for. The restaurant wasnt busy and there were no large tables laid up but we did book early. Food wasnt great! Such long wait to be asked about dessert that we didnt bother. Got up paid and left and no one asked why we had left most of the meals and if all was ok. It clearly wasnt. There was the added niggle of the flies which we appreciate was not the restaurant's fault. Such a shame. We so wanted the night out to go well.
Our original booking elsewhere was cancelled and due to cancellations we were able to get tickets for The Barn who had The Soul Man as entertainment. Never having been before, we were pleasantly surprised at what a lovely restaurant. Not only was the food fab, every member of staff we encountered were really lovely and so helpful. So much so, we are looking forward to a return visit or visits.

Another lovely weekend at Stroud Hill Park and enjoyed amazing meals yet again! Steak Friday must not be missed for quality and value for money. Plenty of choice of other good, well cooked, reasonably priced and pleasantly served meals also available. Recommend the scotch egg starter and the home made lasagne. When food like this is available on site why eat anywhere else?
Went to The Barn on Sat 2nd April with a friend, shared the camembert for starters then I had the 8oz rump, I'm every chefs nightmare as I like my steak very well done but I have to say, it was cooked perfectly. Cooked all the way through but still lovely and tender. Very impressed. The staff were very nice and friendly, a credit to the restaurant x
It's incredible to think about what you might have missed right on your doorstep. The building is charming, the staff are just the right amount of friendly, the food is outstanding, and the prices are very reasonable. It's one of those places that leaves you saying, "That was really nice, we have to come back." There's no better review than that.
The steaks were fantastic and the prawn salad was very fresh. I finished every bite of the delicious beef Sunday lunch. The wines were good and the service was top-notch. Highly recommended!

Disappointed beef wasn’t good left most of it as couldn’t even cut it,told waitress who told chef and then heard him laugh about it. Not impressed.
