Dined Saturday night and all was great. Food magnificent, service absolutely outstanding, considering it was full with a private function upstairs.I would have given them a better rating had it not been for the disruptive children.Whilst I do not blame the kids, as the parents didn't seem to care. It was that the staff made no effort what-so-ever to ask the parents to control their children.These kids (only 2 of them - about 18 months & 4 years old) were running around the entire restaurant between other diners trying to enjoy their meal, even jumping on the lounges where again other patrons were sitting. My wife and I get down to the Beach several times a year either with family or friends and always find this restaurant to be so consistent both in terms of the wonderful food and terrific service. Easy to understand why the restaurant is nearly always full. Has an extensive menu and caters for light snacks,entrees and main meals. Also a comprehensive range of beers and wine on offer.When our small group went there last week for lunch, we sampled more of the great food and service. Had a very pleasant lunch with the gnocchi ragout main being an absolute standout.......just delicious !!Take the fifteen minute drive down from Hobart to this very good restaurant..........you will not be disappoi...
Have been many times before but not for over 12 months before this. I am not sure what happened as we have never had cold food here before but we did this time and the prices had gone up quite a bit, which would have been Ok if we got a nice Hot food on a cold morning. The toast was not toast just soggy bread and not much scramble egg per serve. The coffee was fine, and a lovely lady served us. Not sure if this was a one off problem but won't be back any time soon and companions agreed
We had a family 70th birthday lunch, and we asked to be seated away from the doors when booking, and we were place close to the open fire - lovely. The food was very well presented, and their special fish of the day was a highlight. Desserts were also well done. A group of us met for afternoon tea and a chance to relax and talk. The atmosphere was friendly and warm, we were seated near a window with fantastic water views. The service was excellent especially as we were only ordering drinks and sweets or biscuits. I have been to this restaurant before for full meals on other occasions and not been disappointed. A lovely peaceful place to visit.
We are at the Beach on a Tuesday night, with another family (4A, 4C) and were surprised at how busy it was! FOH service was attentive and helpful, and despite the number of tables we never had to wait much for anything. Kids and adults all enjoyed their meals in a relaxed atmosphere. Would come back :)
A good lunch stop going South. Starters of tempura mushrooms were excellent as were the oysters, a new supply from the East Coast apparently. Mains of crab/prawn cakes & ravioli together with two glasses of wine came in at around $100. Very satisfying and excellent service.

Table for 8, cold Friday night. Excellent service, good sized meals - sons (19 and 17) ate Mexican and Meatlover's pizzas - had to take soem home. Great desserts. Split the bill. Highly recommended
