We have enjoyed, what can only be described as, an excellent lunch today. We live in Devon and regularly pop over to Bude and have passed here a number of times but have never been in. But on a glorious New Year Bank Holiday Monday it seemed rude not to take advantage of the last couple of seats on the outside terrace with far reaching views of the Atlantic. We recently spent two lovely nights at The Beach at Bude. From my first encounter with Bridget, when I called to make the booking, I just knew this was what we were looking for ! Bridget was charming and professional as she shared the attributes of the various rooms available. We settled on one with a beach view and it was definitely worth it. Upon entering the room we knew we had found a special place. The room was modern, immaculate and decorated in soft relaxing colors. I booked a room for 2 nights through booking.com and I had mentioned we are 2 adults and a child. I specifically selected a large double bed room instead of the normal double bed room, as that is what we do for the 3 of us ever since my son was born. I received a confirmation from the hotel saying 2 Adults and 0 Child. I went back to correct them that our 4 year old son will be there too. They amended the booking to add an 'extra bed ' for my 4 year old and said I have to pay £100 for the extra bed, when I hadn 't even requested for one (a large double bed was enough for us). We stayed here for 2 nights on our recent holiday on Cornwall. We had a great stay in a lovely room overlooking the beach and bay with balcony and outdoor seating. The room itself was spacious and very comfortable with additional indoor seating . The bathroom had huge freestanding bath and large walk in shower. Great tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary bottles of water. The staff were all amazing so friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed two great breakfasts qnd dinners there. Its in a great location and we will definitely go back.

Why do you go to a restaurant? I go to a restaurant because I like to be fed and leave not hungry. Unfortunately if you buy Mussels as a main dish there you will most definitely be hungry by the time you leave. One single handful of mussels you’ll get. The manager is someone who thinks they know it all if you have a complaint about your food also. I’ve been there before and the burger is to absolutely die for so go there for the burger!
Nice cocktails. Lovely staff My chicken saltimbocca was nice but lacked any sage taste and the sauce that came with it was plain white and bland. A touch of tarragon would have been nice in the sauce. Cheeseboard was lovely but too much! Overall a lovely place
The food was presented well and tasted great. How ever the service was poor. Had to weight over 20 mins after we had finished our main before the plates were cleared away and then another eternity before we could order a dessert !!! Real shame.
Lovely lunch on the terrace in the sunshine .We hadn’t booked but arrived early and got a wonderful table looking out over the sea and Bude. Catch of the day was Bream and it was cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back .

Lovely ambience. Amazing what the chef did with Beetroot and Chickpea Ragu! Venison carpaccio also very good. And excellent service.
