First of all I’d like to say how amazing the food was, fresh and delicious. Unfortunately this was let down by the awful atmosphere and staff. When we arrived it was empty, a lady stood behind the bar looked at us and we said we had a table booked, she said ‘oh I didn’t even notice, it’s fine though.’ We sat down on one of the only tables that were clean (lots of tables full of plates etc waiting to be cleared while the lady behind was behind the bar) we ordered drinks and food. We had starters but waited a long time for plates to be cleared, suddenly our mains arrive and our starters haven’t been cleared. Black Horse welcomed our group of around 16 walkers for a weekday lunch. The service was highly organized and efficient, and the food was outstanding. We were seated in a cozy corner at the back of the pub, allowing us to chat and unwind together. As for vegetarian options, our vegetarian friends were pleased with both the variety and quality available. Price per person ranged from £20 to £30. Overall, I would rate the food a perfect 5.
Great food. Service not so great. Where we was sitting we were able to review communication between staff. People standing around miss communication. We were seated but then waited 40mins for menus and 60mins for drinks to arrive. Food arrived 75mins later. That was amazing super hot, fresh and tasted brilliant would happily go back for food but hopefully the service gets alot better Price per person: £30–40
Quite a long wait on food and especially drink, with waiting staff often walking straight past our table with our orders. Understandable given high demand and busy lunch hour. Food was good, and there was a magician making his rounds between the tables, which was a unique experience. In a beautiful area, with lots of nice walking routes around.
