The hostess was polite and accommodating. My sister and I really enjoyed our food and waitress service. We came in on Saturday during brunch. Thus The Block’s brunch menu included a variety of items. My sister had a chorizo sausage sizzler (please don’t quote me on the name). It had chorizo sausage, scrambled egg, mini wedge potatoes, cheese, and salsa. It came out hot and you can hear the sizzle! The jalapeño cheese grits were her’s too. I did get to try all of them and they tasted amazing!!! I had the pear and fennel salad!! It tasted wonderful!! The Happy Hour is awesome!!!! The food is delicious!!! The staff...amazing!!! My husband and I showed up with no reservations.....they squeezed us in....we enjoyed the happy hour Brussel Sprouts....then....THE WINGS....oh my....some of the best I 've had!!!! They were on point....not only the sauce...but how they were cooked....cleanest wing bones I 've had!!!! The Cajun pasta was also scrumptious!!! I stopped eating it just to have leftovers.....their slogan is Neighborhood Grill Bar .....I told the waitress I wish they were in my neighborhood!!!! Such delicious flavors and the value from Happy Hour and portions made it all worth it!!!! Highly recommend checking them out!!!!
We stumbled over this place while we were looking for something in the area. I never heard of it, but it was really good. The place is small, but cozy. The atmosphere is fun, but really relaxed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We have some appetizers and turkeyburgers, and everything was delicious. I would like to go back for drinks and try different dishes as they had many things on the menu that sound good. I really felt this place was a jewel; No one was disappointed by the experience.
I must say, l was truly impressed with the beauty of the atmosphere of dining in the Block. My plate l ordered was the shrimp and grits.when l say delicious. The cook done a good job. The waiter he was very pleasant also let me mention the host she was very observant she witnessed my daughter in-law fork falling to the floor from where we sat. She came over and said she saw what happened. We thanked her. I would give this place of business a five star . For their Good customer service.

Beautiful atmosphere enjoyed the dj the star of the show was the bartender T, it made my first experience in this establishment so comfortable. She was welcoming and informative regarding the menu and drinks every time I looked up, she smiled or laughed and her drinks were so good. My food was delicious, the shrimps and grits were good.
Nice staff. Delicious food. Great service. Reasonable prices. Black owned. Tasty drinks. Great music! Great atmosphere! I came into Detroit for one day from STL to explore and I’m glad I chose this restaurant.
