The Blue Pig Tavern

For the price, they didn’t get the little things right. We arrived promptly for a reservation and were seated after about a min wait and a decent walk at the end of the lawn closest to the beach. Not sure what the wait was since only about half the tables were occupied. We were sat in a table right in the beating sun, despite all other diners being in the shade. After about mins being uncomfortably hot and waiting for a staff member I flagged down a server, and asked to move tables. He asked we not move and went on the long walk to get our server. We usually eat at the Blue Pig once each time we are in Cape May. I have to say this was the best meal I've had there the food continues to get better and the fresh ingredients from Beach Plum Farm really add an extra bit of flavor. For this reservation, we were having dinner. We did have to wait a bit for our table. In addition, service was good though a bit rushed. I believe that due to the COVID pandemic, they likely did not hire as many wait staff as they needed given the size of the crowd. Still, the meal was lovely, the environment great in their garden patio and the food was the best I've had at the Blue Pig.

We visit this restaurant every year, and that is because of the quality of the experience. The food is very good, fresh, consistent, and priced reasonably. The service is always friendly and attentive. We do love the quaint room, and always elect to eat inside, so we were concerned this year about whether we could get a reservation, since everyone is dealing with their outdoor area. The weather was iffy, so we were seated under the portico at Congress Hall, and that was a beautiful setting! Our dinners of shrimp cocktail, beet salad, salmon, meatloaf and crab cake were all delicious.

Please note that this place used to be one of my favorite joints down in Cape May. It is definitely not what it used to be before the pandemic. The food went down in quality, the birds are a nuisance for outside dining and the staff looked and sounded miserable. My eggs benedict has always been served on a homemade biscuit but this time it was just on a regular English muffin and the Canadian bacon was fatty, very disappointing. This place has a severe seagull problem. A seagull landed on my table knocked over my wine and ate my salmon. The waitress offered to replace it but it was too late the mood was ruined. We were not the only table who has to deal with seagulls landing and eating the food. It was terrible!

This restaurant has really over-reached trying to capitalize on the opportunity of outdoor dining being the only game in town Food was bad Jonah Crab claws that had a tough texture and a fish and chips entree that was just miserable.

Really an elegant place for dinner. Loved sitting on the patio. I had the steak and cake and my husband had the burger. We both enjoyed our dinner. The crab cake was phenomenal. The service was excellent! We will be back!

Beautiful outdoor location with umbrellas for shade. Delicious delicacies from the chef match the historical beach side resort. Live music played out on the green allows for a wonderful meal. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

Always an excellent experience and great food even with the current COVID restrictions. Being able to dine out and have excellent quality food made our vacation very special and memorable.

The hostess, Tanesha, was SO incredibly nice! She went out of her way to find for us and was so polite and friendly!
