So yesterday I went for lunch at the canalside and it has seriously went downhill. I posted a wee comment on their page without going into detail all I said was I was disappointed, as I don't believe in totally slating a business on fb. However they have now deleted my post and blocked me from their page so I am taking it upon myself to leave an honest review. 21 pounds for 2 course isn't the cheapest so I expected something at least edible. I can't fault the waiting staff as they did their job and the food was served promptly as we explained we were in a bit of a rush. I ordered the tomatoe and roast pepper soup for starter and the festive burger for main. Bearing in mind this was 21 quid.....
Staff were lovely and welcoming. Beautiful place to have a meal/drinks. Food was okay. Calamari was rubbery and a very small portion for the price. It was served with deep fried veg which was odd and wasn't pleasant. Chips weren't crispy and tasted like oil. Burger was very pink in the middle. We weren't asked if we were okay with that. It wasnt very flavoursome, had to add bbq Sause. The roll wasn't toasted so went soggy with the red juices of the burger. The chicken starter tasted like oil and The haggis balls were soggy in the middle. Over all we feel the oil wasn't hot enough and hadn't been changed in some time. We tried the new menu at this restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We visited on a Sunday and were pleased to find they now offer a carvery, which my husband loved. I had the steak pie, while one friend had a burger and the other had scampi. We all enjoyed our meals, and found the service and atmosphere to be excellent. Overall, we recommend giving this restaurant a try - it's pretty good.
This place is a 5 star across the board. The food was delicious, the atmosphere charming, and service made you feel like you were visiting with a cousin or good friend. We had a fantastic evening tonight celebrating my husband's birthday. The food was excellent! There were five of us, including our dog. The restaurant is beautiful, and the food and drinks were top-notch. A special mention to the young waitress and waiter who were very friendly and provided excellent service. Thank you for a wonderful night.
We made a reservation for three for a festive lunch and were promptly seated. Our order was taken quickly and the food arrived at our table well presented, piping hot, and delicious. We highly recommend the fabulous food and affordable prices at this restaurant.
