It was a pure accident that we arrived here for a meal as we were staying in Alnwick on holiday and had googled local restaurants ! Didn't realise that there were Earsdons' in the area but didn't feel cancelling at the last minute was...the right thing to do when we realised so went along. What can I say ! The drive was well worth it. Whilst the pub wasn't anything special inside, what did get us was the service, the food and the atmosphere. Clearly a pub where locals go to but unlike most other places, you didn't feel like an outsider as the locals are all so friendly. The first time I tried Cannon Inn was on the recommendation of Google. The staff were attentive, with quick reaction times, and even checked to see if we were comfortable. The food was delicious - a proper home-cooked meal with the best chips I've had in a while. I will definitely be returning. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and were seated within an hour for a quick meal. Overall, it was a great option for those looking for non-alcoholic drinks or water. The restaurant wasn't too crowded, and the staff seated guests with plenty of space between tables. I highly recommend it.
My partner and I visited this pub for food for the first time in ages. It’s still as friendly as ever and there’s an excellent menu at good value. Plenty to choose from. Something for everyone. We had home made corned beef pie and stroganoff....Both were excellent. We will return soon depending on local restrictions. Let’s hope they don’t last long as this place and others deserve the custom. Breakfast served and also good vegetarian choice. Takeaway service available.
We have lived close to the Cannon for many years and it has in this time always been good. It has never rested on its laurels but has always endeavoured to improve and seems to have managed to do this every year. During the pandemic, they have been providing wonderful take away meals and have now re-opened allowing people to eat in. The Cannon really is a hidden gem. Wonderful century pub which oozes character and warmth. Situated on Front Street Earsdon the pub provides a warm welcome to all. The food is great and the staff are very attentive and friendly. Both the food and...drink are reasonably priced good value for money. Would highly recommend for a pub meal or a quiet drink
I ordered the red Thai curry, and when it arrived, it was more like a bowl of soup, it was so watery. How am I supposed to eat soup with a knife and fork? We were asked how our meal was when we finished. We paid the bill at the end, not during our meal.
Placed our order at very short notice and our takeaway during these lockdown times was ready within minutes. Our meals were excellent and great value too. Very helpful and really friendly service. Without doubt we'll order again again.

fabulous fresh food at great price. all roasted are gluten-free. they can have large or small portions. fabulous friendly staff x fast service xx super friendly warm atmosphere x
