This is a long-standing local favorite and one of the best kept secrets in St. Pete. I've frequented this place the past 30 years. It's been owned by the same family since the early 1950s. It was a typical hot Florida day so we sat inside in the adorable English tea room. There's plenty of outdoor seating that is decorated really cool and funky decor complete with a Koi pond and bathtubs full of flowers. This area accommodations kids and is dog friendly. Local music artists are featured several nights a week. The menu remains reasonably priced and the food is oh so good. I had the hamburger and french fries with a nice cold beer. Delicious. It’s a cash only restaurant with an ATM on site.
We have always loved The Chattaway and enjoyed both their seafood and afternoon tea but unfortunately this time was a huge departure from their normal standard. We had arranged an afternoon tea for a large group for a special occasion and the ambience and place settings were perfect. However, the quality of the food was very disappointing. The sandwiches were okay, but the scones were small, misshapen and flat (looked more like cookies), the crumpets were dry and stale, and the cakes were brownies that were identical to the brownie bites you can buy in bulk at costco, together with some store-bought cookies. Definitely a rip-off at $45 per person.
A local gem. My family and I absolutely loved this place! Our server Elijah was so sweet and attentive. All of the food was delicious, I got the philly sandwich with onion rings, my mom got the grilled grouper, and my dad got the fried grouper sandwich. We also got mac n cheese bites to start. Everything was 10/10! The atmosphere was also fantastic, very eclectic and chill with odes to the owners family throughout which is so special. The owner and her sons even came over and introduced themselves! We will definitely be back.
This place is perfect if you're looking for a very charming place to have a drink in an outdoor venue, which features a charming coy fish pond and a talented musician playing and singing in the background. OR, you can enjoy a meal and quiet conversation in a beautifully decorated English tea room. It's adorable, the food is fresh and delicious, and the service is top notch. 5 stars!!!! This place is excellent.

Food was average we got the cheeseburger and fried chicken. We were disappointed with the fried chicken because it was a customer favorite and it lacked flavor. I don’t think it was even seasoned! The cheeseburger was like any ordinary burger. Would not return sadly.
I haven’t dined here since before the pandemic, but it is an absolute GEM and I am elated to see that unlike so many of my other favorite family owned, non-chain restaurant favorites, it survived and appears to be thriving. I will make a point to visit soon!
Our family of 9 ate there and had Elijah for our waiter. The food was great! Elijah was great!
Cash only and a little pricy for just 2 cheese burgers and 2 waters. Enjoyed it though
