We have always loved The Chattaway and enjoyed both their seafood and afternoon tea but unfortunately this time was a huge departure from their normal standard. We had arranged an afternoon tea for a large group for a special occasion and the ambience and place settings were perfect. However, the quality of the food was very disappointing. The sandwiches were okay, but the scones were small, misshapen and flat (looked more like cookies), the crumpets were dry and stale, and the cakes were brownies that were identical to the brownie bites you can buy in bulk at costco, together with some store-bought cookies. Definitely a rip-off at $45 per person.
We went for afternoon tea which is strangely only available at lunchtime. The tea room is inside and very attractively decorated with an English theme. The ambience was great and the tea served on lovely fine china. There was a good selection of teas and made individually for each person. However the food was definitely not worth the $45 cost. The sandwiches were fine but the scones were strange flat things more like cookies, the crumpets were hard and possibly stale and the cakes were brownie bites and cookies. On an earlier occasion the cake course was tiny cupcakes and petits fours. This could have been a super tea but it just wasn't.
This was my first time at the Chattaway. My friends that I went with have been there multiple times. Our server Elijah, was excellent. The food and overall atmosphere was so fun, and Elijah made our experience all the more fun. We will definitely be coming back again!
Food was average we got the cheeseburger and fried chicken. We were disappointed with the fried chicken because it was a customer favorite and it lacked flavor. I don’t think it was even seasoned! The cheeseburger was like any ordinary burger. Would not return sadly. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
Born and raised in St. Pete and just finally went here for the first time today. Everything was great and we will definitely be back, Elijah was the best! Don’t forget to bring cash.
