My husband booked this restaurant through Groupon. 3 courses for 2 people for £17. Went on Thursday evening. Was greeted professionally by a student who showed us to our table. We were offered drinks and the menu. We order Smoked Salmon and Chicken Mousse was starters. I had a glass of white wine and my husband had a coffee. Bread rolls were also offered to us. I must say the presentation of the food was 1st class. The quality was superb. For mains we had Spinach pasta and Roasted Pork Cutlet. Again this was delivered to us in a very professional manner and the food presentation and taste was excellent. For dessert we went for profiteroles. We have never tasted profiteroles like this before....
We went on a Groupon voucher what a great deal for the price! We had booked originally for another evening had to cancel due to ill health this was no problem for them. Didn't know what to expect as we do not live anywhere near the college but about 45 minutes away. We were greeted by a lovely young lady who showed us to our table in what was not like a college cafe but a very nice restaurant with lovely white table cloths night lights on the table. The food was excellent we had a lovely three course meal which cost £17 for two!! it was beautifully presented equally as good as any expensive restaurant we have been to we dine out a lot plus we had a glass of wine each a coffee which came to a...
In my last review of the Chef's Hat I only gave it one star, as six of us were let down by a college booking mis-communication. So no meal for us. I complained and did not receive in the following month. This time I complained to the college principal by email at 7pm one evening.. I had a reply within two hours promising to investigate and get back to me the following day. This happened and all six of us were promised a free meal with wine. Last night we had the meal. Everything was perfect. Our faith has been restored and will continue being diners at very under rated restaurant.
I try to book the Chef's Hat direct but the college booking system did not work so I booked via the reception. They assured me all was okay and if there was a problem they would contact. Last night we arrived to be told they had no such booking. No they could not accommodate us. The best they were prepared to offer was a free bottle of wine, and would we like to book for next week. We declined both offers. All six of us were very disappointed after being regular customer for some years. I emailed the college and they (to date have never replied.
We had a fantastic three-course meal in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We brought our own wine and there was a £3 corkage fee. The wine list also offered options at £2.50 per glass. We definitely plan to visit again because the food was exceptional. Just make sure to make a reservation properly, as some others had issues when they only informed the reception. We highly recommend trying the Moules and the generous portion of Creme Brulee.
I visited this restaurant tonight for a Valentine's Day meal. It was an amazing experience with a very warm welcome. They have many upcoming changes that will give students real experience in a functioning restaurant. The best part was being able to see all the chefs working to prepare the meals, with no hidden corners. The meal tonight was Italian, with very generous portions, all cooked and created on site.
I absolutely adore this restaurant. It is actually affiliated with a culinary school, where students have the opportunity to experiment with cooking. The food is consistently delicious and offers a wide variety of options. Best of all, it is budget-friendly. The flavors are exceptional as well.
Myself and my family regularly visit and the food is always good. The kids get some experience cooking/serving paying customers and we haven't had a bad meal yet.
I had lunch there today. The name has changed as has the lay out, but still a great place to eat locally at a fabulous price. Well done, everyone!
