The pub has recently undergone refurbishment and has been taken over by Marston's Brewery. The rear outside area which used to have a children's play area, now looks like a garden centre! The tables and chairs are far too close together for comfort. The main...bar area has remained unchanged. My family and I have been many times in the past to this lovely old pub and have always thoroughly enjoyed our visits; meals have been good at a reasonable price but not any more. We visit our friends quite often in Tadworth and I must say that the new look Chequers is absolutely stunning. We came in for lunch and found it hard to decide what to eat as the menu had so much variety on it. I opted...for the vegetarian beetroot wellington and I was not disappointed, it was delicious, my friend had a burger which looked equally fab. He did say it was one of the best burgers around. We will certainly be returning next time I am in the area. Thank you to everyone at the Chequers x
what a disappointment, booked a pod, but not in the position to open a tab, all drinks and eat on the app are ordered or go into the bar and pay them as they go. no good word of 7 adults about eating, my triple. Sunday roast was so over cooked that it could have been from the previous Sunday. Finally we could order drinks from the app, two pints by youngs special. we received two pints of insipid flat slops, it was an insult to one of my favoritesales, they were sent back.
we love a roast on a Sunday so many of the surrounding pubs have tried. this was a clear winner the bark was very tasty and the rest was hot and well cooked. love the new look of the pubs and many. space dogs welcome. we also realized that the waiter waitress was very attentive to it and is well turned on, we will be back. it can be a little expensive than most, but on this visit it was worth it. we chose an outside table where we had to order at the bar instead of table service. we ordered fish and chips. the diligent was not cooked in part and we complain. the chef admitted it was not right and offered a free whisper. I, I, I've disguised treacle, that was more like cake than tart. very disappointed by all the experience that is a scandal as we are in the pub.
Major overhaul which has increased prices and removed the children's play area. Having lived in the village for 17 years, this is the first time our family has not felt welcomed to our village pub. Sadly doesn't feel its family friendly place anymore :
Sadly very disappointing… the starter of crayfish prawns in a so called Marie Rose sauce was £11 and honestly was worth £4 !! The sauce was watery and tasteless!! The mains were much better but won’t be rushing back
Best roast dinner I've had in ages, concentrating more on flavour and making sure it's piping hot! To many pubs trying to look and sound fancy but miss the most important thing, taste. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
delicious eating and very attentive staff it was a great place and so a wonderful garden and the interieur was immaculate
