We visited on the first day of our holiday and were made to feel very welcome. The girl on the bar said we could sit anywhere and was very pleasant. Unfortunately our second visit was far less welcoming. We walked in and heard the young lad on the bar say to his colleague, They 're not sitting in here r they? We were then told that as we were only having drinks we had to sit on the ten seater table tucked away behind the bar. There were only 5 of us. Two other men had been having just drinks in the area we walked in. The pub was very quiet and we couldn 't see anybody eating. We won 't be returning.
We have had some lovely meals and the carvery is delicious. The problem is though that on a couple of ocassions we’ve had some bad meals. The latest was today, my family had the lamb shank and the beef lasagne of which they said was amazing. Unfortunately i chose the vegan Sweet potato and spinach lasagne was not good. the pasta was stodgy, very little spinach and dry. Im not sure we will want to return which is such a shame because we struggle to find places to eat with wheelchair access.
We stayed at this restaurant for two nights and absolutely enjoyed our stay. The room we stayed in was excellent - very clean, comfortable, and had lots of amenities. The breakfasts were freshly made and one of the best we've ever had. We also dined at the restaurant one evening and once again, we were impressed with the delicious, home-cooked food. We are already making plans to return in the new year!
I recently visited this restaurant for the first time in a while and I was impressed. We were seated near the bar, where a log burning fire created a cozy and atmospheric ambience. Despite being near the main entrance with lots of people passing through, it wasn't too disruptive. The food was served quickly by polite staff members. Been numerous time but this wasn’t great . Pork belly bites were pork belly dust microscopic 5mm bits of pork. Had the mussels for main . Got 13 mussels . One of party also ordered. She got 15 . You expect a decent bowl or pan of them? All felt a bit mean . Do they count the chips . Gammon steak grill needed a clean. Lovely service as always
We had an unexpected 2 night stay at The Chequers and we all were extremely impressed with the quality and varied choice of food, good choice of drinks and very helpful friendly staff. Served the best English breakfast ever ! Shame about the rain, We will certainly return when the weather improves
Came to the Chequers Inn for my mum's 75th birthday last night. Have to say it's the best meal we've had out on the Island. Service was brilliant, food was amazing. We didn't have to wait long for our food and there was 17 of us at the table. Looking forward to going back soon.
Great food and attentive service make this restaurant worth a visit. The atmosphere is nice and there are plenty of options on the menu. I particularly enjoyed the clever names for the burgers! I definitely recommend checking it out. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
I love the sausages and also I loved the pudding and how it was presented. For pudding I had a toffee and caramel sundae. this is the best dinner I’ve had at a restaurant so far. Name.Emily Grace age.8
