It was not as good as was suggested. i am afraid we took advice to try the Chippy for great fish and large portions. Well, with that suggestion, as we were staying at the caravan and motorhome site off, i went and ordered 2 haddock and chips and one side of mushy peas. Back in the motorhome to tuck in and yes portions were good however quality was not as suggested. Chips were fine but not stunning, slightly overdone in my mind. My mushy peas were good, but the bit you have to get right is the fish. I am afraid it was or cooked in fat that was too hot. It was dry and just did not flake at all. It was a real shame as it was a decent portion and was quite thick, but we were both disappointed.
Return visit. Cooked the best traditional Yorkshire way in beef dripping.Myself and partner had the haddock special. Asked for lightly battered well done. Arrived HUGE fish, fresh, chunky and tasty cooked as requested. Peas were lovely, we were both not so keen on the chips this time they appeared to be crunchy (apparently down to the type of potatoes . Ordered a curry sauce, not the same as last time, very unusual, (a good old fashioned chip shop curry cant be beaten! .Service was excellent. Ordered and received very quickly. Still my best fish shop by far I won't eat locally after eating these, everyone else's looks meager! See you again soon!
We had takeaway fish and chips from the Chippie. Haddock was fresh and tender, and the portions were generous, the breading crisp. Chips were a little soggy. One diner had a breaded black pudding which was pretty heavy. Many many people waiting in line from the time it opens, so go early and still expect a wait.
Up on holiday saw previous reviews commenting on dry overcooked fish but decided to give it a try. All I can say is we had an excellent experience, very friendly staff, fish and chips cooked to perfection, premises spotlessly clean, more than happy to recommend to anyone.

I was here in May on a Sunday afternoon at the end of a bank Holliday weekend. I don’t know how they survived. Sooo busy. I bought fish and chips take away. Simply brilliant. Pity I live in Australia as it is a long way to go back and get more.
Spotted this place and thought I must have some fish and chips. I wasn’t really hungry but they looked great. Absolutely superb, don’t think I’ve had much better and the price, UNBELIEVABLE. Top marks for a top place. Highly recommended.
Oh wow this place is we sat in the cafe side and we’re very warmly welcome by an Australian lady she was really attentive! The deep fried Wensleydale and curry sauce are stand out dishes for me! We will most def be back!!
The fish, whilst it looked nice was overcooked and dry. Chips average and the curry sauce lacked flavour. Definitely not worth the money nor the drive. Wish we’d stopped 15 miles earlier and got them from Leyburn

Lunch but unfortunately we didn't eat. Because it was card only and we just had cash. Find this very shocking telling customer how to pay for food. Definitely won't return or recommend to to anyone.
Do not know what restaurant was like as they only took card and always use cash so never went in so I might of missed out on a nice meal
