After finally being seated, we waited half an hour for our salads, and then an hour for our pizza. When we asked about the delay, the manager snapped, "What do you expect for a Friday night?"—even though the restaurant wasn't busy at all. By 9:00 PM, we decided to leave because it was past our children's bedtime. We requested our pizza to take home, but were met with more hostility. We noticed they only started making our pizzas then, and we had to wait another 20 minutes to get them for takeout. We're usually easygoing and understand that things can go wrong in restaurants. My family went to Coal House on a Friday evening with a reservation. We were seated immediately and ordered the eggplant panini and buffalo wings as an appetizer. My brother and boyfriend seemed to enjoy the buffalo wings. I thought the eggplant panini was very bland and soggy. The appetizer took quite a long time to come out. The pizzas we ordered were the traditional Margherita, Meatball Pie, and Di Cippola. I enjoyed the Margherita pizza and my family liked the meat pies. Overall, a good spot for pizza and my family will probably order takeout in the future.
This place was great! Family friendly but elegant. Great food! Pizza was really delicious including dough and fresh ingredients (ricotta was outstanding on top. Loved the bruschetta and garlic knots and stellar Caesar Salad to start. One of the best Caesars I've had in a long time! Kids pizza is adult sized which is nice. I am not a local but here visiting family and will come again. Most of all Anthony was thoughtful about seating us and making us feel welcome despite some timing issues and a few generations of differing needs.
The woman named Lauren who left a one-star review... hmmm, I suspect there’s another side to this story. First of all, it's important to discipline your children. The behavior of many kids in restaurants today can make anyone feel uncomfortable and annoyed. The food is delicious, but I had to take off one star because my 12-inch cauliflower pizza was actually only 9 inches. I measured it because it was noticeably smaller than the other regular 12-inch pizza we ordered. Aside from that, the taste is great, but the portion size is disappointing, especially considering the high price.
The food was amazing! The service was outstanding. I especially loved that they had vegan options for my daughter and they went above and beyond for us. The place was beautiful and clean. Thank you so much for everything. We'll definitely come back.
