Place wasn't that busy but waited 1.5 hours for main course to be served, and when served it wasn't piping hot more a luke warm. Have been here a few times before and always had a pleasant experience, unfortunately for whatever reason this visit was a disaster for everyone,a largish group meal and other tables next to us were all left feeling thoroughly disheartened with the wait. Would be good manners to tell people on arrival that there is a 1.5 hour wait for food, the staff on floor were all very pleasant and we felt sorry for them that any business would allow their staff to be put in this predicament where abuse could quite easily happen due to excessive waiting on what is essentially b...
10 friends met for a Christmas meal which had been booked and the meals ordered beforehand. Service was diabolical and it was an hour later when the starters came. Not everyone had starters and the main courses took another hour! We were losing the will to live by that time! The lady who organised this went to complain and they apologised for the delay but our meals were now being plated up! Desserts were served after more lengthy delays and we were a dessert short! Everyone was finished before they brought the missing one but the lady was so annoyed by then that she couldn’t eat it! The food was lovely but service diabolical! They should not have taken the booking if they were so short staf...
We frequent The Compass often and always enjoy delicious meals. However, during our recent visit, the service was lacking. Three out of four in our group ordered starters which took a while to arrive, but were tasty. After waiting forty minutes for our main courses, I had to remind the staff. Surprisingly, the food arrived within five minutes. Unfortunately, my husband's meal was lukewarm, indicating it had been sitting. Despite the restaurant not being at full capacity, the service was slow, with the chef even seen chatting with a friend near the kitchen. It's disappointing that my son and daughter-in-law had to experience such poor service after I had praised The Compass to them.
Booked for our 34th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint! We are regulars over the last ten years and Adam and Chelsea have made this the place to go! Not only do they value their regulars they make all visitors feel that they are the most important diners there! Food is outstanding! Service outstanding and environment is fabulous! What a terrific place to celebrate!!

We went to this restaurant three times while staying in the area. The food was incredible, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and we couldn't find any faults with the place. The prices were also reasonable considering the high quality of the food and drinks. A hidden gem indeed.
The compass is now a nightmare if you go in for drinks only , you are ushered to a seat and then are forgotten about whilst the staff deal with customers who are having food . I dont think we will be rushing back any time soon.
Been here a couple of times, was lovely on both occasions, this time however service was slow, food was Luke warm, wasn’t overly busy so don’t understand the wait, don’t think I will be visiting again
Once again a lovely lunch at The Compass. Very friendly and efficient staff, delicious food and a relaxing atmosphere. We would never go anywhere else if we want a meal local to where we live.

We visited today as it was the launch of the new menu and we were not disappointed. Lovely staff, delicious meal and no sign at all of any teething problems on the first day of the launch.
