I've seen over the years the terrible reviews against the darrington and never understood them because our food we have actually always enjoyed, we've eaten here for years sometimes twice a week, but the last times have been horrendous since the change in menu...it seems to be change in suppliers or something because the food is disgusting Im not a serial moaner and think this is the second time I have ever left a review anywhere!! Tonight was the final straw unfortunately and will not be returning until we hear of major changes, the chicken is clearly frozen ****, steak tastes foul, sausages god don't even get me started on them anaemic looking things, everything looked so under or over coo...
Went on Tuesday September with daughter and granddaughter to meet a friend. Had booked table prior to visit but was told to sit anywhere! (What's point in booking) Went to bar to order. At least children's meals unavailable! Ended up with mash fish...fingers and beans and garlic bread. Mash rock hard. Garlic bread horrible returned to bar. Offered ice cream instead which we accepted. Our meals ok. scampi and a steak pie. (Salad on scampi none existent as usual...bit of scratty lettuce! For goodness sake add other things to make a salad! Crust very hard though. Drinks expensive. Nice staff. Enjoyed it but might be a while before I go again . What has happened to offers rest give u a percentag...
Randomly found this place on our journey to Sunderland yesterday and it was so good we stopped on our way home today! Food is delicious and such great value with big portions! They have offers on each day too! Yesterday I went to order a...glass of wine and was told could have a whole bottle for as it was wine Wednesday!! Lovely bottle it was too! But what made it such a great place was the staff so efficient, helpful and friendly, every single one of them! We will be back!
While looking for a sit-down option instead of fast food on a road trip, we stumbled upon this restaurant. It wasn't our top choice, but many places were closed on a Monday. The staff was extremely friendly and checked on us multiple times, even explaining that our initial order wasn't available and helping us find a substitute. The food, when it arrived, was delicious and the portions were generous enough to warrant a Doggy bag that we gladly accepted.

I took my children to have breakfast with Santa, and then booked a kids' party in the afternoon. First of all, I would like to thank Molly for organizing everything. We chose the darrington as it was close to my uncles house as we needed a base for one night the room was great the amenities OK staff really friendly food fantastic We would deffinately use it again wen we come up
Friendly Service and Good Value. Great accommodations,Clean with good amenities.. Will be using this hotel again , have already booked for next year accommodations for family wedding guests.
Came with my boys for a treat, staff made us feel comfortable and safe because of the covid measures in place. We all had a lovely meal and pudding too. Can’t wait to go back

Very disappointed in food and what a dirty rundown place will not be returning .shame as was a good place too meet family .
The food was amazing, as always! The service was exceptional. I will definitely be returning and can't wait for it.
