We were looking froward to this visit as the reviews were good and the food looked very nice. I guess they had an off night. First of all we were ushered through the lovely atmospheric restaurant and given a table in a plastic windowed extension which felt like an old people’s home. The starter was very good. Cullen skink was delicious, the hummus had a bit too much lemon but a great flavour. The various breads were a bit nondescript but OK. The mains were a complete let down. The chicken supreme was pretty ordinary roast chicken. The beef ragu in pasta came in a watery flavourless tomato wish wash and the beef was tender but again lacked any distinctive taste. After a long day of walking, we arrived at the pub for drinks. We each had a drink as we were exhausted, but were asked to vacate the table after an hour. Unfortunately, the young blonde woman who had been helpful earlier approached us in front of other diners, loudly asking if we had paid the bill. This was very rude and made us feel uncomfortable, especially since we had already paid to another staff member and left a tip. This incident tarnished what had been a pleasant day, and we were further upset by the poor customer service. We have dined and drank in much better establishments all over the world, and we will not be returning to this restaurant. We do not recommend it to others.
I rated this restaurant a 1 because the service was very poor. The young lady have us a bottle of table water. I had to ask for cups. We ordered our meal which was of poor quality chicken supreme had no sauce my sister ordered a meal that had chilli in it she asked for them to exclude them as she gets unwell with them. The servicer mixed up the meals to another customer. The girl was called over and a new meal was made. We had to wait on my sister finishing her meal what was the point in going for a meal together if we couldn't eat at the same time. She got £2 something off her meal. Big deal
Passed this little tavern on may occasions on way home to Glasgow and it looked so quaint and always wanted to go in. Had my chance after walking the coastal path from Pittenweem to Anstruther and came across it going into Anstruther. Was not disappointed as it is so quaint inside and has a great outdoor segmented area (left over from covid) looking down to the river. Menu looked very good and would see how our day panned out whether we could manage to come back to have dinner? Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely come back to eat here.

We were unable to have a drink before our meal, as this is not a pub. The meal started off well and the staff appeared friendly, but we experienced a long wait of over an hour between our starters and main course. Despite multiple staff members walking by, our table was not cleared and no one said anything to us. This odd serving behavior was disappointing. The restaurant was not busy at the time, so we assume it was a slow kitchen, but the staff should have acknowledged the delay. Overall, we will not be in a hurry to return.
Another amazing visit to The Dreel! This time for a late Sunday lunch, for my birthday Delicious warm beetroot and whipped goats cheese starter, after some much needed and awesome **** marys to start, then perfectly pink sirloin and all the trimmings for my main... Faultless! Followed by a couple of beers in the well-appointed beer garden... Perfect in every way : Lovely staff, nice and easy going and just a pleasure to be looked after by... Well done all
We had a wonderful dining experience at Dreel Tavern. The restaurant is dog-friendly and has a welcoming staff. We loved trying out their new menu, especially the delicious salmon starter and the Sunday Roast. The wine and cocktail selection was fantastic, with the best Mai Tai in town. A big thank you to the Dreel team for the outstanding meal and service. We will definitely be returning!
Great service from friendly staff. A dog friendly pub too! Our food was very good and I can recommend the goats cheese and beetroot salad and the slow cooked beef cheek. Booking is advisable.
